Becoming Led Zeppelin

Anyone seen this, going to see it? Reviews aren't great but I don't think much of the reviews in general. One of if not my fav bands, not sure if I'll venture out or wait for it to be streamed.

I pre-bought tickets. Excited to see it regardless of the reviews. My all time favorite band and this has been endorsed by the surviving members. I'm sure it will come out on DVD and I'll buy that too.
I've got a group of people going including my best bud as we both share extreme enthusiasm for LZ. What's really cool is his 18 year old daughter is coming home from college that weekend to see it with us. Love it when the next generation is excited about things from the past.
Looking forward to it.

Sweet sounds like you'll have a great time.

I sure hope it comes out on BR !!

^ Blu ray the best for sound with picture.

I will see it in IMAX next week. I don’t expect it to be great, but should be a good way to spend a cold February afternoon. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
It is imperative that we recognize that an opinion is not a fact. -
I'm not expecting it to be the best but anytime I get to see and learn more about my favorite band, bring it on

I don't think the actual video is going to be all that "great" by cinematic standards. Much of it has been culled from fan shot video of the day they scoured the World for, which even at best is less than stellar. It's more abut documenting the rise and understanding the culture of the day. Almost everything back then was word of mouth.
It's a bit of a different perspective and allows for all the unseen amateur reels to finally see the light of day. YouTube has been phenomenal in allowing amateur footage of all types to be seen by the masses. 35-40 years ago when I started collecting bootlegs, I never dreamt any of the stuff available today on YouTube was going to be possible.

Well... I mean... it is the 21st Century. Don't "they" have all sorts of digital tricks and gee-gaws to make old, shakey footage look like it was taken yesterday with a high res video camera thingy?
Like, you know, that Get Back guy. Peter Jackson.

Saw this today with my 18 year old son. We both enjoyed it. He plays guitar and Jimmy Page is definitely one of his heroes. I'm not a huge Zeppelin fan, so much of the documentary was new to me. I found the background info on where each came from very interesting. Really enjoyed seeing live footage I'd never seen before. Thought there were a couple holes how this or that came to be. Overall I'd recommend seeing it.
-
Also to add. I had no idea that Page basically produced the first two albums. His insight and creativity at the time was absolutely amazing!

It was packed at the theater we saw it at. Mostly age appropriate folks as you would expect. Though, there were a large number of teens/twenty something as well. Just goes to show, great music and talent has appeal to all music lovers.

I checked last night and it’s no longer showing on the imax around here. I really screwed up by not going earlier, I’ve heard it was great in imax. Probably go to see it in our local theater soon

I saw it this past weekend and it was really, really good. I enjoyed the background of each member the most. The rest of it, as a super fan, I've known. I also enjoyed seeing the the 3 living members reflect back after such a long time. It would have been more enjoyable if the 3 members were actually interacting with each other in the same room rather than the isolated interviews. It most likely would have been more spontaneous.
I was amazed at a lot of the footage and the quality. Being a super fan I have a lot of bootlegs and video, etc. The Bath footage in 1970, The Dallas Motor Speedway in Summer of '69 and January 1969 1st show at the Fillmore video's were the clearest and longest versions I've ever seen or for that matter heard of. Those were real treats to see some visuals to a couple of my early favorite bootleg audio recordings.
Only disappointment was just when it was starting to get good it ended.......
Casual fans might not think much of the film. Fans and Super fans should enjoy it.

I bought my tickets early on January 5th pre-sale (non-Imax) a group of 6 of us went this past Saturday at 7:15. Only 4 other people in the entire theater......lol"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I went today, the last day showing in theaters around me. Really good. Regret not going to IMAX when it was showing. The sound was still pretty good in theater but this is one that I’d like to see in the best possible format.

We lucked out and the local IMAX had a few showings this past weekend so we grabbed tickets for Saturday. I’ll say, as a big Zep fan I thought it was great. My wife who isn’t really into documentaries enjoyed it as well.
Seeing some of their shows from the early days being played on a giant IMAX screen was pretty damn awesome. Since I grew up after the Zeppelin years, aside from seeing Robert Plant in concert last year, I think this was probably the closest thing to seeing them live that I will ever get. It was also pretty touching to see Jimmy and Robert get a little teary eyed listening to some of the older Bonham interviews from years ago.
