2 questions.

Of the following receivers, if money was no problem, how would you rank as to the "best stuff" you will buy?

Yamaha
Denon
Onkyo
Marantz
NAD
Pioneer Elite

I didn't include Sunfire, b/c I figured all of you would list Sunfire as #1.

Of the above, which is the best value for the money you spend?

This is subjective..so there will be many opinions...but here you go:

    Best Stuff List..
    1= highest

    1) NAD
    2) Poineer Elite
    3) Marantz
    4) Denon
    5) Onkyo
    6) Yamaha
(5 or 6 could go either way)

    Best Value:

    I would say the Onkyo
    Receiver: harmankardon AVR235
    Mains: polk R30
    Center: polk CSi3
    Rear Surrounds: polk R20
    Subwoofer: polk PSW404
    DVD: Panasonic DVD-S29

Some of these are so close, its really just an opinion on what features you like and dislike
    1 is highest...

    1-Poineer Elite
    2-Marantz
    3-NAD
    4-Onkyo
    5-Denon
    6-yamaha

Best value is probably Onkyo also

    1) NAD
    2)Onkyo
    3)Denon
    4) Marantz
    5)Pioneer Elite
    6)Yamaha

Onkyo is tops for me because of "bang for the buck". For twice the money NAD has better sound.

Or you can buy any amp that is digital only for the LSi's. ;) Ha!!!!

    2Learn,
Depending on the speaker selected, one's personal preference for what sounds good, and the price range picked, the receivers could all be equal in my opinion. Yamaha may sound best to you with some speakers, or it may sound the worst. Add Sony ES, Integra, JVC, Harman Kardon, and Rotel to the list as well and listen to as many as you can before deciding what you want. Don't go by name alone.

The best value is always last year's model of whatever brand when it goes on closeout.

no, i don't think he meant vintage, at least that's how i understand it.

I can't contribute anythig to this list.. i've never heard any Denon, Yamaha or current NAD. I own Marantz, but i'm sure it's not the best by any means..

From what i've read.. Onkyo and Denon are about neck and neck for value, features, and sound. Does the Pioneer Elite or NAD blow them out, not sure.

No, I didn't mean vintage. I don't think I know enough to go down that road, yet.
