Onkyo TX-NR656 to Polk PSW505 Subwoofer

Thanks in advance for ANY help. Not getting much or any bass from the Sub. Have the Onkyo receiver with a media room setup of 5.1:

4 in-wall Polk RC85i
1 Polk T30 center speaker
1 Polk PSW505

I assume it’s the proper cable and input/output but very beginner level. Looking for theater sound. Thanks!

Did it stop working, or is this a new setup?

Are all of the speakers set to small or large in the Onkyo?

    Do you have the manual?

Is the a setup microphone and option to run the calibration for that AVR? (do you have the manual?)
    I disabled signatures.
  • Still should work-moved and trying to setup from initial menu on my receiver

So that’s where I get a bit confused. Their in-wall decent size speakers. Have them as large since they’re not satellites so may need to change that if need be

I do but they don’t mention in-walls at all so stick with which wiring option is best

I need to still fond the mic to setup ideally, but getting no bass it seems at all seems odd

The Polk RC85i are not large speakers, -3dB is 50Hz. Set them to small.

  • Thanks-I’ll do that now. Helps a ton to start with that

Set the center to small as well.

What type of cable are you using to connect the AVR to the sub?

What input on the sub is the cable connected to?

  • Done

Ice tried both RCA L/R and then tried the single digital in. Same results. But they were done with more than likely the large speaker setting. So think I’ll try both again and see where it stands.

Unless you already know the best option before I get both trials going
  • Looking at the manual I think the speaker wire from speakers to sub back to receiver makes most sense. I hadn’t tried that so I’ll head that route now

Use an RCA cable from the sub out on the AVR to the LFE input on the sub.

Are you sure the power switch on the sub is on?

What position is the on/auto/standby switch set to?

Where is the volume control knob set to on the sub?

  • Will do!

    Power is on

    Switch is on auto

Volume set to 50%. Was higher but lowered looking at a few videos

Ok, I'll take it then that the power light on the sub is on.

Have you configured the AVR program setup to include a subwoofer?

  • So this is super embarrassing. While I made sure the power toggle was on, noticed no power light on. Going to send in the board and see if they can replace the power portion. Ugh. Thanks for the help, Gents!

Check the fuse, which is located just below the IEC socket.
