I could use them on my Triton/NAD system or Polk SDA-SRS2/NAD system. Either one would benefit.

Tony wins it, with one number away! Congrats and Merry Christmas all!

I rocked to this at about 80-85db.s :D

"The Heat of the Jungle" B)B)

Drew's Karma Nordost Cables are sounding "FRIKEN FANTASTIC" now and I've just barely started breaking them in B):p

The tone seems VERY well balanced from top to bottom now.

The bass was lacking at first. REALLY lacking. I found out one end of one cable had switched colors. I covered their colors with the proper colored tape and re-installed them. All was right with the sound now.

The bass was still lacking compared to my 14ga. ofc. speaker wire. But as I've played more and more, the bass really seems to have gotten louder. These cables really seemed to make my Hartley mini-Reference Towers sound like my Def. Tech. BP30s. That's saying something too. ;)

The Hartley's had a forward midrange and highs. The bass sounded like a Pro-speaker's bass. Like Cerwin Vega 12" woofers sound like. ;)

Top to bottom, these cables have now elevated the sound coming out of these Hartley's. Very smooth highs now. The mids are clear and listenable. The bass seems like the 2-6.5s in each speaker are 15" paper coned woofers with rolled surrounds. Smooth impacts in a sense.

    AMAZING transformations. 5 stars!

    Very cool, @Tony M
And very cool karma from @Clipdat Drew.

It's a great feeling when a system mod makes a marked improvement, and you have one of those great, soulful listening sessions. These are the times I find myself up late, listening to "just one more..."

I was curious about those speakers, since I've never heard of them. I can't seem to find anything on specs, but did see an old ad listing on reverb. Neat looking.

Most interesting to me was that they were built in Wilmington, NC B)
Tony, you might've passed these guys in your grocery or hardware stores, or even yelled at them in traffic! :)

Did you have to refoam yours? The ones I saw on Reverb had disintegrated foams. I know you've become a bit of a pro in this area of rehab work.

Love the review. I’ve become a big Nordost fan. This is about all I needed to get me off the fence and go up their line to replace my existing Nordost Ax Angel speaker cables, especially after upgrading interconnects with great success, recently.

That’s pretty weird about the terminations not being marked properly, though …

Yes, I did re-foam the woofers. I replaced the grill material too. I did that to 2 pairs of them. I paid 50.00 for a pair a few years ago and then picked up another pair around last Thanksgiving for 40.00 in way of a tip. The second owner decided to give me his pair after he realized the surrounds were toast. He wanted a nice cup of coffee. That's all. He did want 200.00 at first.

Both men owned their pairs for many years. MANY. Many parties were had by both men playing these speakers. They can absolutely play LOUD and powerful too.

Both pairs are in GREAT shape. I thought about doing the ADVENT "double stacking". It would probably be overkill and not add much to the already awesome sound just one pair can produce.

They were made right around the corner from me 30 years ago. I actually saw them in the Audio Lab store but the owner and maker said they weren't for my taste in music. He said they were voiced for jazz. They were 750.00 pr. back then. I never heard them for 30 years. I owned and heard their big brothers 20/25 years later, but the original tweeters weren't original or were missing one or both.

These Cables sounded great again today. I got to listen to a few songs from the radio and I smiled again.

I have spent many hours re-listening to CDs after bringing new stuff home that maybe was high-end stuff many years ago but they were on the 3rd or 4th-hand market down the line. The Triton Ones were the exception. They were a year or less from new launching, but the owner died and his daughter sold them to me for 1200.00. They were still 5K at the time.

These NEW cables seem to be the real deal. Nordost WAS concerned about that one cable having slipped through QC and offered to make it right. I declined since I have red Vinyl tape and it took 5 min. to tape over both ends to match the other ends.

I've already thought about buying some other Nordost stuff too.

That 'Heat of the Jungle" song has some GREAT sound effects that shift from side to side and appear from outside the speakers and also from above. It really is a listening session tune to judge one's speakers by. B)

That ad has some GREAT pics of these. The tops are thick glass-like black laminate. Mine have minimal scratches if any at all. The guys really took care of them.

    There's nothing inside the cabinets.

Does anybody think some stuffing would help their already awesome sound? I have some stuffing and also some rock-wool-style stuffing too. That cotton multi-colored sheet stuff that's an inch thick or more.

Glad you are having fun with them, Tony! I'm surprised that a factory sealed pair of speaker cables would have the color labeling reversed like that!

I had more fun today. :p

One in a million slip. It must've been 4:30 on a Friday or the person was hung over when he/she made these. Or...

The person wanted to have a laugh KNOWING some person is going to lose their bass big-time after hooking this set into place. ;)

I didn't change the ends since the sleeves are molded onto the cable super tight.
I can take a picture anytime to prove it has happened here. :p

I went online looking for other Nordost cables and noticed printed on one end "arrows" indicating the direction the signal should travel. I didn't remember seeing any on mine but I didn't look too hard either.

I went out today and checked. :s
BOTH cables had the arrows on one end and I had them backwards. BOTH. :o

I corrected them and sat for a listening session again. I swear I hear yet another level of sonic purity from a nice Yamaha receiver, a Mitsubishi CD player, and the Hartleys. What might be a thing with these cables is I went to put arrows on the cables with a Sharpie pen, and the cable repelled the ink. You can't write on these with a pen or pencil either. They're pretty slick skinned. Maybe the signals flow over the copper inside with little to no resistance. Maybe.

The bass was BIG and powerful. :oB) The sound field was huge on a lot of music.

I wonder if I'm really hearing this simple system produce great sound just because of the Nordost cables. I want to put the 14 ga. ofc to see if there is a reversal of sound quality. Maybe in the future, I'll do that.

But for now, I'm doing the "burn-in" sessions. :)

Maddona ( the person) turned into whatever, but she does have a voice, and her "greatest hits, vol. 2", has a lot of what I would call high-production music and vocals. I sat through quite a few of them. The Hartleys are being smoothed out now. One song had bass so powerful I had to back off a few numbers for fear of blowing up a woofer or 4. :D I was amazed. It sounded like the 18'w x10'h wall was one HUGE woofer. :D

Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold"? Oh yeah. B) This set-up sounded close to my Polk SDA-SRS2's sound. Well....sort of. :D Those zipping sound effects sounded amazing! I enjoyed this song a lot.

I played some other CDs too but the recordings seemed weird.

Do cables have sonic characteristics? Do they need burn-in time?

    I say, YES. I'm a big-time believer. ;)B)

    Thanks again, Drew!
