How to check for proper function L800

I am picking up a set of L800 and want to verify they work properly.

Can I verify SDA effect if I connect the SDA interconnect cable to both speakers and then disconnect the amp connection connection to one speaker? Will the SDA speaker driver still play on the disconnected speaker? If so, then I can do the same with the other speaker?

Thanks

The way the SDA operates in the L800 is very different than the originals. Each L800 contains a stereo crossover and an SDA crossover, they are sort of mirror images of each other.

That said, I have no idea what would happen if you disconnect one speaker.

The L800 crossover, one side stereo and the other SDA.

    Too complicated for me

Would it be safe to say if all the drivers are moving and sound out of both tweeters, they are probably good?

There is some guidance from Polk regarding checking for absolute phase, which seems to be related to SDA functioning and setup but requires a balance control. I must admit it's a little hard to follow, especially when it says the true center for an amplifier may change at different volume levels:

    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I use this disc here just for that. I picked it up in a DVD/CD pkg deal years ago. It's a cd-disc cleaner w/brushes as well.YouTube may have it as well. l0ahf6agxfcb.jpg

Sorry to be a pain on this, but it's a decent drive and I want to ensure they work properly so I don't have to bring them back.

I have to bring my own equipment to test. I am bring an integrated amp with balance controls. If I turn the balance to left only, should I hear SDA speakers from the right speaker?

I believe that works with the old SDA's

    Thanks

Yes. Can also test with a home theater receiver's speaker level test tones. The test tone for the right speaker will play in the upper portion of the inside array in the right speaker and the outside array of the left speaker. For the left speaker it's inside array for the left speaker and outside array for the right speaker. It's clearly audible in both speakers.

    Thx
I would prefer not having to disconnect one of my receivers to do test tones, but will if the balance trick doesn’t work on the integrated.

Sorry that I just sold my Marantz receiver. Replaced it with an Arcam

I am picking up on Sunday

    thanks

On my speakers, all drivers function when centered. (obviously) o:) When shifted left, the inboard drivers on the right channel fade out, and all drivers on the left function. When shifted right, the opposite occurs. When the SDA cable is unplugged, all drivers in both cabinets function, and lastly with mono-blocks, when one channel is turned off, there is a reduced volume from the channel not receiving power, which is carried over the SDA cable.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!!

One you state the inboard drivers(non SDA) fade out do the outboard drivers (SDA) still produce sound?
