Lions Mane extract

So, seeing the commercials on TV for a product that is touted as being able to improve memory got me wondering if it really works. A little bit of research got me looking at Lions Mane extract. Any experience with this or perhaps another item that has actually helped with "brain fog" or memory recall?
Yep, my name really is Bob.

Sounds like you tried it, stopped taking it, and forgot that it made you feel cowardly.

If you only had a brain, you would see . . . that I wouldn't listen to Toto if I only had some Heart. What time does "Quincy, M.D." come on tonight? I want to see the episode about punk rock and slam-dancing again.

That sounds like a Bob Seger song.

And another: Just give me some of that old time elephant.

I'm familiar with it, and why people take it, but maybe ask yourself why you need to in the first place. In other words, maybe something else is getting in the way, like...are you taking other meds, like statins ?? Have you checked any other levels of magnesium or Vitamin D3 ? Fish oils high in DHA ? Are you a junkfood addict ? Cholesterol too low ? Maybe check some boxes first, then give it a try. For me anyway, I don't supplement just for the sake of taking a supplement. I more so target nutrient deficiencies. Your brain/memory loves DHA. Lions mane is good too but I dunno about long term usages and at what dose.

Good points Tony and for most people it would probably more applicable. I'm fortunate at my somewhat advanced age that I do not take any prescription meds. I do take D3, B12 on the advice of my Dr. Also take zinc and fish oil. I don't know what the long term effects may be but I don;t want to look like an elephant.

  • "Cholesterol too low ?".

    Bingo
If you take statins, take Ubiquinol.
Cholesterol is NOT your most deadly enemy
