Air coil

What are the differences between air coil and foil? Is one better or not with regards to higher frequencies or lower frequencies? Can you use them together as you would air core and iron core? What brands would folks here recommend? Jantzen seems to be good and cost effective as does Dayton. I have read where some have mentioned Mundorf and Duelund. I am working with RTi8's, so I am certain the latter two brands mentioned will be a hard pass (Duelund. Mighty pricey). Also, wire guage. I have read where a lower guage is better. Why? The values I am looking to replace are .15mh and .90mh.

Foil can sound better but it's very hard to find the right ratings in foil, especially in tweeter networks.
I imagine you will have no issues finding it for the midrange.
In my experience, there is not a ton of difference between a good quality air core and a foil inductor but the foils look cooler.
Now if you want to really go wild and spring for the ones that have been potted, those can be a nice performance boost with vibration damping.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
