Eversolo DMP A6 - update

My A6 just updated to v1.3.30 and it’s such a crazy good improvement.

I haven’t seen many people talking about the now seamless Apple Music integration that is as clean and functional as Tidal Connect. I bought the unit like many others to use Apple Music and was a little bummed that you had to cast everything to have any sort of remote control over media, playback etc.

This update completely changed that.

Q: any other Eversolo owners find the unit very forward / pronounced? I’m using it purely as a network streamer connected to my RME ADI2 and it’s shocking how different media sounds streamed compared to directly connected via my iPhone or iPad which give lossless output..

Feels far weighter from the A6.

I’ll post some UI screenshots in case anyone is curious about the aforementioned AM integration.

  • Any unit using a ESS (saber) chipset DAC will hear more highs & mid range, and if you have a pair of speakers that are very reveling you will hear a pin drop...lol. People often forget how different types of DAC's/chipsets can affect the sound from their speakers. AKM DAC's/chipset are a bit more laid back, but know to have a very good spatial feel/sound. ESS DAC's play well with Jazz. classical and R&B type music while an AKM DAC will do great with Hard Rock, Hip Hop and Pop music.

Be careful when you use absolutes. I my dac has ESS Saber chipset and it's very balanced not at all tipped up for mids and highs. Solid, deep bass. Very balanced, open, airy, etc.

The analog section is as important the chipset implementation as well as the power supply. No one can say and AKM or Sabre or NOS chipset does certain things better than others. It has more to do with overall design and parts quality around the dac chipset as well as proper implementation.

I could find 3 dac's that use the exact same chipset and one sounds fantastic and the other just ok and one downright unlistenable.

My point is there are no "absolutes" in this hobby.

  • Very true, as all parts make of the sum of the listening experience

I dunno, H9. I can think of an absolute.

You don't get any sound if the system is not plugged in.

Oh, wait. You can power it by solar or battery. Back to the drawing board. DOH!
