I picked up my new speakers today. I got RTi12's, a CSi5, FXi5's, RTi6's, and another PSW505. And let me tell you, it's not as easy to fit all that into a Monte Carlo as you'd think! Ok, I had to make two trips to the store and two uncomfortable trips from the store lol. The early verdict is....awesome! I just hooked up my Yamaha DVD-Audio player today too, so I've been playing some Linkin Park, Queen, and Steely Dan. Anyway, pics are below!

Our rigs are very similar. Is that a Hitachi 51/57S500? I'm not the only one with stacked 505's now. Enjoy!

Thug, close, it's a 51GWX20. I haven't got the 2nd 505 hooked up yet because I need an rca coupler. I'm not going to hook up my surrounds until I move at the end of August, but I might use the RTi6's as presence speakers and leave them on top of the 12's. I dunno, I'll play around with it some.

Kick ****, rig. Very nice showcase of the TOTL RTi series. How much power are you sending the 12's?

Congrats FS. I thought you already had a whole LSi set up though with 2 pairs of 15s. Are you setting up a second system?

Right now I'm just running it off of my Yamaha RXV2400, but I'm planning on getting one of the Monster 3-channel amps for the front stage after I move to St. Louis (and get my moving bonus ;))

Trey, I think I'm going to leave the RTi6's stacked like that and hook them up using the presence outputs, so they are supposed to be right-side up for that lol. Ideally presence speakers would be higher and wider than where they are at, but I'm not mounting those bad boys on the wall. I'll probably get some RTi4's for presence speakers and mount them when I move. The 6's will go to surround back at that point.

BS, I sold the LSi system a few months ago. Racer here at Club Polk got a 5.1 set, which it sounds like he is enjoying. The other pair of 15's got ebayed to a good home in Minnesota. At the time, the LSi's where changing finish and I planned on getting the new cherry finish, but production has been backed up because of a shortage of Vifa tweeters. One of my co-workers has been waiting since February for his 15's, so I decided to get the RTi12's since they are more readily available. I listen to a lot of rock and metal, and I like how the RTi's bring out the midrange (i.e crunching guitars) more than the LSi's. Plus they look cool!

Ultimately, I plan to get LSi's again, probably for a two channel rig this time. I'm looking at spring '05 for that, and who knows, maybe the next-gen LSi or SDA will be out at that point.

I think you made the right move FS. For dynamic movie soundtracks, and especially for the type of music you listen to, I believe the 12s are much better suited for that than the 15s IMO.

I have my 12s in a dedicated 2 channel rig with 3 NAD 270 amps powering them. 1 each bridged in mono at 300 watts powering each set of woofers, and the other powering the tweets/mids in stereo at 120 watts per. So I'm getting 420 watts per channel out of them like this.

What are the amps you are looking at for the 12s rated at?

250 watts per @ 8 ohms. Should be okay. Retails for $3 grand. Richard Marsh designed it.

Very freaking nice FireHouse (snicker). Man you have those dual 505's just off to the side next to an entrance. Man - you got be losing 60% of your bass. Corner load those baby's - ouch!!!!
That kitten looks just like one of my little guys.
Killer system and nice tv to boot. Yes, that Linkin Park DVDA blows everything away.......

I did a couple of frequency sweeps with the subs yesterday to see how things were going. I've got a 7-8db peak in the 80 hz range and from about 45hz to 55hz, then it's solid down to 22hz. I've only done the one location with 0 and 180 degrees so far.

Possibly with room gain, but it's definitely not the same as having a seperate subwoofer, at least with my current power source lol. We'll see how much things change when I add an amp.
