Okay, it's not that bad but....as I handful of you may remember, I mentioned going under the knife for minor surgery, removal of torn meniscus, but I think those bastages beat on me while I was under.
I'm two weeks post-surgery, got my four stitches out today and a large syringe full of something that just shouldn't have been in there.....observe, and no one make fun of my boxers....
Note the size of that thing, this aint your grandmas syringe....but I digress, my stability has improved, I'm still one crutching it and phys therapy is a good thing.

Hope you feel better soon, and watch out for infection. Lost a friend recently to a staph infection three days after her ostomy takedown.

@ Geoff4rfc, get well quickly.
I'm sharing your leg pictures with a friend of mine. She had a strained meniscus from too much walking and weights. Fortunately, a shot of cortizone has solved her problem for now. Her orthopedic doctor said he sees meniscus issues in many older folks."Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"Anger is just anger. It isn’t good. It isn’t bad. It just is. What you do with it is what matters.

It would explain why he was so tired during his fight...
He exhausted himself beating up your leg!
Hope the healing goes well!
I'm eventually going to need meniscus surgery, this isn't making me feel any better about it. -
That looks really bad. Hope it's not painful. Heal up fast

Tore my meniscus last March when I slipped on the ice. Had the damaged area removed in July (partial meniscectomy), no bruising at all, and I'm on Warfarin. Was it arthroscopic? I had no stitches. And barely any swelling.
Never needed crutches or walker, was back walking around the house that day. Full range of motion in 2 - 3 weeks.
Bad news? 6 weeks of PT, did no good for pain. 4 months later I still can't walk more than 1/2 a mile without pain, sometimes less. Just finished 5 weekly injections of Supartz FX for arthritis this week. That never bothered me before surgery. Supposed to wait 4-6 weeks to see if that helped.
If not, new knee. At this point I wish I had just done that right away. I'd be all healed up by now. After talking to others. having any meniscus removed is not something I would recommend.
Did they tell you what that fluid is? I've watched videos where they remove excess fluid before the injections I got, it's always clear.
Hope it goes well for you.

I don’t like the looks of that fluid at all!
Wishing you the best. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

To answer a few questions, @Upstatemax, My left knee when through four surgeries from 1981 to 2019, two torn meniscus tear removals, one ACL repair and finally a total knee replacement. The only bruising I got was from the TKR.
I had fluid removed from the left knee from the original tear on the left (1981), it was clear. This time, I had broken blood vessels which released a lot of blood, that's what you see in the syringe.
After my MRI for this right knee prior to surgery, I got a cortisone shot, felt great, less than two weeks after the shot, I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Latina girls 15th birthday celebration. One of my GF's friends says, I think that mariachi dude is hot, so, being the social butterfly I am, I tell her, I got you.
I get it to go ask him to come to the table, get three steps and my right knee buckles, I feel tearing and man, the pain nearly took me to the floor. Like a trooper, I make it to the dude, limping like I'm I just got shot in the leg lol, find out the dudes married @nooshinjohn, you're free to call me a moron and mean it this time
This whole experience has been a nightmare of pain but oxy and hydrocodone sure do help lol.
@BlueBirdMusic, please feel free to share with your friend and let her know it's not always as bad (the results) as this one was for me. I'm 64 (will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64) but still going strong. My lovely Ayesha is 48 and taking great care of me, can't cook worth a lick but I don't complain lol, I'm very grateful. We don't live together but she comes over and helps me with shopping, listens to music and watches movies with me, putzes around the house taking care of this and that, she's a God send.

Wellt, I'm afraid to say this makes the case for downsizing to a soundbar. Dibs on your Integra.
Geoff, pretty sure that's old overheated brake fluid in that syringe. Did you smell it?
In all seriousness, hate to hear of the pain and suffering there, and hope it's smoothish healing from here on.
I've had a few friends and family with knee surgeries of varying types. Rough stuff. All swear by the physical therapy, though. First was an overachieving soccer chick gf years back. I think she eventually wound up with tears in bits of both knees and requisite surgery on each. Different times, luckily, one one turf, the other during indoor soccer. Unforgiving stuff, indoor. Had a work friend suffer a tear playing indoor, too.
(i couldn't look before. squeamish. I can't watch those videos of people crashing on skateboards or bikes, either.)

Had a torn meniscus in my right knee done about 5 years ago. Didn't have any bruising like yours. Rehab took awhile to regain full range of motion. Doc said he had to remove a fair bit to clean it up and get a smooth surface. That knee occasionally feels "sloppy" now for lack of a better term.
Meniscus is torn in my left knee too. I've been living with it. Normally doesn't bother me unless I push it. One of these days, that one will have to be done too. -
@DaveHo I can dig it!! My rehab is going to take longer than expected. I got booted out three times already because my BP was WAY too high.
This was just arthroscopic surgery, four stitches. 25 days later, still showing the massive bruising and my BP is out of control. The first time I got the boot, the bottom number was 101. The PT is saying, "This is emergency room status!!!!" I'm like, well, I'm taking my meds, don't know what to tell you.
The second time I got the boot, the bottom number was 105 and I say, hmmm, guess I shouldn't have had those three fat lines before I came in. The PT did NOT find that humorous at all.
The third time, the number below was 112, then jumped to 125 on the second check. I laughed out loud and said, DANG, that's jacked UP!! I've NEVER seen it that high! Again, the PT was not amused.
The VA is working with me, I have a third Rx for BP now, and on a 6 month monitoring program to see just what the heck is going on. @Geoff4rfc, that monitoring program should benefit your health.
It will also give you an understanding of good and bad numbers and the foods that have an effect.
I take my blood pressure almost everyday and it is transmitted to a group that notifies my doctor if out of range for three straight days. Also, I receive a call from an assigned nurse on any really unusal reading to ask me how I'm feeling, what I've eaten, etc. I am always asked if I have had Mexican Food, lots of salt, etc. I'm on the monitoring as a precation because of my age and hypertension.

@BlueBirdMusic, you're absolutely right, it should be good and I'm counting on it. It sounds like I'll be doing the same thing as you. I recently received my new cuff and tablet for the daily's and transmits.
And the reconstruction of my diet!?!?! I know it's for my benefit but dang, I told the Doctor, "I like BACON with my bacon."

Geoff, any chance you have sleep apnea? That is a surefire cause of high diastolic pressure. Does your significant other complain about snoring?
But yeah, salt is also a cause. Tortilla chips, processed foods, preserved meats, etc. Caffeine also causes mine to spike. I've cut back to 1 cup of coffee these days.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
@billbillw I appreciate that thought. So far so good, no sleep apnea. And A is such a sweetheart, she'd never complain lol.
Good for you and the one cup a day, especially if you really love coffee. I used to be a one pot a day guy. I've cut back to two cups a day......most days lol but never more than four cups in a day.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2
