You want it to have a dac?

Actually, I would advise getting one that you could add a DAC too.

This is ideal, but I plan on adding a Topping D90 DAC to the equation. I have been doing my homework and this get great reviews.

I really enjoy my minidsp sdh studio

Sounds awesome and streams all of the major services.

    Dirac is a nice bonus

Granted you need a linear power supply. I have almost as much invested in that as I do the streamer. In full transparency

    How's it rank at ASR?

ASR loves Topping. Most of their products get glowing reviews for having low distortion and whatever else they test. The D90 was one of the best reviewed at the time it came out.
Kevin, have you considered using a DIY Rasberry Pi or PC unit running Roon, Daphile, Volumio, or some other OS/Software? They really can be on level or above most of the commercially available streamers.

For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

    I have a Yamaha WXC-50 , actually 3 , one of which I’ll let go cheap … 3 …. That’s how much I like them …

Works great with an external dac as well - I used to run it into a Cambridge 851n , and still using one in a secondary system.

It’s brother - the WXA-50 ( same but with an amp ) got a great review at ASR - if that’s of interest.

Google it and PM me if interested..

I thought ASR said all streamers sound the same.

I have yet to hear a difference in a streamer combined with a quality linear power supply

Now... Streamer with switch mode versus linear? Night and day!

My prior lumin u1 with x1 power supply was replaced with the mini dsp sdh studio and a quality power supply, absolutely no loss of fidelity

Yeah, but in those cases, you weren't using the onboard DAC of the streamer. The DAC can make all the difference in some streamers.

    Well of course

Anyone using a built in dac is missing alot, the dac is everything in a digital rig
