This is very long winded and I'm sorry hopefully someone in the know reads or skims enough
- First some people here from limited reading of posts/ info seem to work or be connected to people who work for Polk and would request help from them.
Do we know if the Legend are still available? It kinds looks from checking the last day that Legend may be discontinued. Even if they are would think they would have warranty stock for those and as I read last night - I saw post from stangman67 from 2022 about they will / should send L series as replacements. for Lsim
This seems like the sucessor to lsim and I'm worried R series Polk said they will send are not built even close to as well, don't look good in my opinion ( heck Legend don't look anywhere near as good as lsim in my opinion but way better than Reserve) but the build quality, plastic surface and not probably natural and larger sound of lsim are particularly worrying I'm concerned the l600 is more like the 705 than the massive 707 also but but seems to be the only real alternative compared to R700

I purchased 2x lsim707, 4x 703, 2x 706c and 2 x 703fx for dirt cheap from Adorama after a lot of research and finally purchasing when the best and turned out to be the last sale showed up.

I posted to forum about issues November of 2019 which the answer was bad tweeter get replaced under warranty - known issue and simple no problems getting CS to replace.
Did more investigating of my speakers and found more than the one 707 had issues
*both 707 had issues one mid and tweet and other wasn't yet sure (still am not) when contacted for warranty about 2nd being only tweet or also mid CS Ben said he would note both for both speaker
*one 706 had horrid distortion from both mid and tweeter, other 706 just tweet I recorded the 706 with both and a 703 without and played for Ben - the 706 is the worst of any of them.
*One 703 had mid problem
the rest of the 703 seem fine though two (including the mid issue one) seem a bit extra distorted so not sure if that's a crossover issue as well (didn't mention this to CS as initial had not yet discovered issue when first contacting found under further testing - the 707 and one of the 706 warranty was expiring a week after I contacted the rest more than a month out still so I was going to check more.
The 702 seemed fine and in fact in limited testing - playing and changing, moving speakers and hooking and demoing next pair - so a while in between listening the 702 actually seemed to be producing better 1 hooked up only and stereo pair sound than the 703 - which I haven't investigated further but has me a little concerned.

My big problem came from I was going to be redoing a couple rooms including making a large 16x25' room into a music and home theatre room.
was looking for speakers for this primary purpose and lots of sales and really good sales but the Polk looked beautiful and substantial and at least one review said 707 were a top speaker under $10k and reviews seemed to indicate the Polk were more natural / neutral - true to source than many and to me absolute identical reproduction of source is more important than anything.
My then problem was immediately after identifying the tweeter and then mid issues on some (hadn't yet tested the 702 or one 706) and working on testing - I had to take care of my Grandparents basically 24/7 so I had to store all the speakers and worry about it later.

Now need to deal with it while under warranty. From what I had seen in 2019 here, my experience with CS sending out two 6x9 and speaker grills very easy for the issue I immediately had opening 707 boxes I didn't anticipate any issues at all now.
and contacted 'Ben' some reason says Response by email (Allan) at Polk who when speaking on phone 8/31 seemed like there wouldn't be a problem.
*9/3 first email saying still waiting for update and would let me know 24-48hrs
*9/9 - no parts in warehouse unfortunately suggest contact dealer. in between waiting for update and no parts I saw the people reporting no parts on here and I believe a couple other places.
* 9/9 I replied not acceptable, they are under warranty and need something done.
* 9/9 still - ben says reaching out again to support.
* 9/10 Support approved the following parts (does not list any parts) and need to provide address within 7 days or closed -
* 9/10 I already did give address but I did again here as well as mentioning it said following parts but didn't list any and confirming as we had gone over the tweets and mids and which speakers as we had discussed.
* 9/11 Ben says speaker parts no longer available approved 2x r700 1x r400 2x r200
I looked up these speaker and was a bit disgusted (and that was yesterday just today when looking again on this forum I see the forum insider sale on R and L series that make the the L more like what I paid for the Lsim on super blowout sale.

From looking the L series may sound better (or may not... I don't know again neutral is kind) than the lsim but seemingly definately is better than R and the R series is plastic wrapped ugly (I have cherry lsim except the 702 are black)

I initially replied to Ben It's 2 sound bars and it says one but does say 2 r200 however that would only make sense as matching pair. I also asked about if then a pair of the atmos up firing could be added.
I did more research as this was a shock - I thought I had been okayed for the replacement parts just wanted to clarify all and the other parts (like rubber gasket etc we had
discussed on original phone call would be included)
So The R series seems like not even remotely same animal.

and I see no parts reported and a long while ago now... I wasn't worried up until I head back from Ben and said no parts maybe contact dealer to see if parts... which no (of course) Adorama doesn't have. It seems insane they would not stock parts for warranty coverage period.

My intention was to use 2 703 and a 706 as a office/bedroom setup.
2 707
1 706
2 703
2 702 with either 703 or 702 as side and back - hadn't figured yet. as home theater
I also have many polk in wall speakers I was going to add for atmos but when shocked by reply of not the parts needed for the lsim but replacements Reserve series - I asked about the height channels to be included.

I would like to know if the Legend are available as to me that is the obvious replacement and I still feel like I'd be sacrificing a bit as sounds like people say they aren't quite built as well as lsim some people say they do sound better but I'm not sure those people are looking for the most neutral - I do want the clearest of every frequency - something that produces identical highs as original is not 'bright' something that can't handle or reproduce the original is a problem for me and many people seem to like that (like RP klipsch) etc. I want clean clear highes, clean mids, clean musical bass - Bass that just goes whomp is absolutely disgusting to me. If bass is a note from an instrument or voice it should be that note just just a lot rumble or thunder.

I felt like after months and months of research, limited auditioning due to extreme lack of local sources between mass lower quality speakers and stores catering way out of my price range mostly online research and recording - i had found a set of speakers (two sets) I could live with for a long time..... now that seems to be taken away.

Really low quality phone recordings of the issues.

This is the bad (probably the single worst speaker of all) 706c at 4 sec can hear bad mid and 16 seconds and between 17and 18 bad tweeter

and a 703 without the notable distortion but this 703 was a bit harsh which I didn't notice until after

Legend line is no longer available although parts are. The Reserve line of speakers is the best Polk has as warranty replacements for LSiM speakers. They are not equivalent cosmetically to the LSiM but they are equivalent in performance.

Outside of the warranty route another solution is to head to Ebay and find replacement LSiM drivers either separately or by buying speakers to cannibalize.

I would take Polk up on their offer of Reserve replacement speakers.

BTW, the cherry LSiM speakers are not cherry veneer. The veneer is an Asian mahogany type wood, that is finished with an orangish dye mixed in with the clear coat.

You are correct that I did get my 707’s replaced with Legend L600’s. As F1 said, take the Reserve speakers and move on with your life, I don’t think you will get a better offer.

Given that the LSIm have been out of production for five years now, and you have had use of those speakers for a good period of time, I am shocked that Polk is doing much of anything at this point . I agree with the others, count your blessings and take what you can get. My experience with these speakers is that the reserves will sound just as good if not a touch better than what you’ve got.

Ok. Am I the only one that got this far then skipped to the end? No offense but maybe start simple. Add some commas and periods once in a while. Wait for some responses. Then build into a novel. Just a thought.
