List of Polk speakers that use the Peerless MW6500 or replacement

I found this on AudioKarma, but could not find it here, so I'm posting it here for other's benefit. I did not compile it, so I can not vouch for the accuracy. Maybe someone has corrections or can add to it? Maybe there are other brands that used the same driver as well, or did Polk have an exclusive on this?

The Polk MWxxxx mid-drivers are not Peerless. Polk used Peerless tweeters in some of the early models.

The Polk MWxxxx mid-drivers are exclusive to Polk.

Hmmmmm, maybe that's a list of Peerless faucets that use the Peerless MW6500 mid-washer replacement.

I'm not sure what you mean by "replacement", but afaik the vintage speakers that came from Polk with the Peerless tweeter (and in early cases of the SL1000) were all supplied with MW6500 or MW6600X. I could be wrong but I haven't seen an exception (yet).

To the OP, it is far from being complete, and yes, Polk was the manufacturer of all of those midwoofers (MW) and Peerless was the manufacturer of the KO10DT Tweeter that Polk replaced with their own SL1000 when it stopped being made in 1984. I believe MW6501 and MW6600X (sometimes they omitted the X just to spice things up) are the same driver but they had some indecision on the numbering system to be adopted at the time.

    Monitor 5,5A - Peerless and all MW6500
    Monitor 7, 7A, 7B - Peerless earlier and SL1000 went in for late 7Bs and all MW6500
    Monitor 10, 10A - Peerless and MW6500
    RTA11/Model 11 (not Monitor11 which came later) - Peerless and MW6600

    Monitor 5B - SL2000 and MW6502
    Monitor 7C - early was SL1000 and then SL2000 and MW6502
    Monitor 10B - MW6600X with the SL1000 and then MW6503 with the SL2000

    Monitor 11 - SL2000 and MW6510

As you can see it was quite chaotic and I some of the above is just to the best of my recollection. Most of it I can prove from magazine documentation. What I post above is also far from complete.
