So we decided to get a new couch for the ht/workout room that would actually fit all 6 of us, and that sent us down a rabbit hole lol. Started with having the move the tv and speaker, which means rerunning wires and remounting. Then I wanted a cabinet that would actually work with all my AV crap, but the spouse did not want any of that salamander stuff (that woman is nothing if not stubborn and picky!). So I had to build something. Then my wife wanted to paint the walls and the bookshelves...a couple weeks later and the is the almost complete result...

We ordered a coffee table sized ottoman, and need a rug. I also need to do some patching on the 13 foot high ceilings dangit...but we're almost there! Everyone in the fam is stoked about it, except the kids are ticked that they can't eat on the couch 😂

This is kinda what it used to look like, with all the workout crap behind the couch:

My spouse was probably most excited about getting the workout area into the corner and out of the line of sight when glancing into the room.

Nice! Looks like you've got plenty of wall space to go BIG on the screen if/when the urge arises.

It's 65 inch and we are only sitting about 6-7 feet away. Honestly I think any bigger might look weird (that's what she said).

The def techs are huge, which probably makes the tv look smaller than it is...

Imo, afrer going to a 120 inch projector screen... It is really hard to enjoy movie night On a TV.

I also like the fact the projector is projecting light away from us versus at us, it is alot easier and more natural on the eyes.

    Great looking space!

That's about what I have in my livingroom. (65” and distance). You did describe it as a Theater. Not saying you need to go bigger, but...
Ask her if it feels like you're at the movie theater... then see if she changes her mind about it being weird.
If you prefer a more homey, livingroom feel, there is nothing wrong with that. I enjoy both my setups.

When I selected my TV size was no different than where I choose to sit in a theater.
I don't want to move my head side to side, nor up and down to see the action on the screen.

I like the setup...pop some corn and enjoy :)

A lot of great work, and in the long run you will be happy that the spouse is satisfied.

My wife despises movie theaters lol, and definitely feels no need to go bigger. But I have one dead pixel and when it's time to replace I might go to 75, but that would be the limit in this room with how its set up...
