Hello all! Looking for advice on a power amp to hook up to either a vintage Marantz receiver or Yamaha AVR. I am not looking at high end, can't afford it. I was thinking along the lines of Adcom, B&K (ST-2140?) or equivalent. I am new to separate power amps. I am looking older for my pocket.
The Marantz is small (2238B) but love the sound and the Yamaha has 100w/channel but no oompf! Not much Amps out compared to above. I had a Kenwood KR-9600 years ago that made my 10s shine but alas died and got rid of it.
Yes I have a top end of about $500 and looking used of course. Thanks for your ideas!

I know nothing about parasound. Any suggestions? Looking 125 W/Ch or better.

No factory box though, so be careful. Most people don't know how to ship amplifiers properly, right @cbow8 ? -
240 wpc and come in under budget.

I’ve had a couple of older Parasound amps and they were both solid, especially for the price. Can’t remember model #’s, but one was a 5 channel and one was a 2 channel. Both were under $500.
Got my start with an Advom 545 and it’s a solid recommendation, though given the a choice, I’d take a Parasound.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden
