Wholesale Vs. Retail

Hey, y'all; I'm wonderin' exactly how much cheaper wholesale is than retail. I just found out that I can get this audio stuff at wholesale. This will obviously affect the equipment I get, but I was wonderin' how much less that will be? Anybody know?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It depends on the product. I know retail stuff is usually marked up 100%. You buy it for $10, sell it for $20. Beer is marked up very little. Most stores mark their beer up only a few cents where some even sell it at cost. But as far as electronics Im not really sure. Ive noticed that for authorized internet retailers, their prices arent really any cheaper than a retail store so it may not be much.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I dont know bro. Ive got a feeling that electronics aint all that marked up. The components needed to make the good stuff is usually pretty pricey. Granted you do pay for the name. Polk/Momo gear is every bit as good as lower end MB Quart stuff but the Quart gear is up to $300 higher.
Id like to know though exactly what the mark up is. I wonder if Kim would tell us what they sell their $300 MM6 to SoundDomain for?polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

i purchased my polk mm6's for 255 shipping included at sounddomain. I think it's all dependant on reputation and name brand. people pay more for what's "in" and retailers know that.www.dmbvideo.com www.oilfans.com

At the store I work at, average margain in audio (car and home) is 34% and in video it is 22%.

I have a friend that works at BB, and I was asking him about computers. He said that they hardly mark-up computers at all, but that they make a wopping lot on, as he said, stereo. I bet they make a good bit on digital cameras, too.George Grand wrote: »

well...polk sells one mm6 tweeter for 100 bones
i really dont think a piece of metal, a magnet, some plastic, and whatever the actual tweeter is made out of costs anymore than $30
granted that doesnt count tooling cost and cost to pay Polk's employees
fat chance on getting any company to tell you what they sell to other companies for...itd be cool to know though

lets see... I got a JL 8w0 for 29 new...sells for 79 retail....
got an eclipse 21010 eq for 149...sells for 249 retail
this from a retail store- there is a huge markup on electronics
oh yeah..my masive amps..got 2 for 400...they are selling for 359ea retail...
some stores will mark up more... -
Awesome!! I can't wait to talk to this guy and see exactly what he can get. I just hope he doesn't mean he can get the Sony, JVC, and Sanyo stuff like they have at BB & CC; if so, that won't help me out much.George Grand wrote: »

Sometimes stores will sell discontiuned or last years items at or below cost just to get rid of them. Thats a real good time to get gear!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Gee...nothing I listed was last years model...My point was there is a huge mark up in electronics. If you dont think so..your nuts.

Gee....I couldnt care less what model year your equipment is. I was offering an aside to your post that last year / discontinued items can often be had for a song at most large retailers.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Yep, I got my Last Year's floor model PPI $450 amp for $150 at ultimate electronics. Too bad it was defective. On the bright side, they sent it in for warranty repairs for free. On the down side, I'm STILL WAITING for it to get back. It's only been like 2 weeks though... I'm so impatient. Everything except for my sub and my amp I got as a "clearance" or "closeout" sale. Most of it came from Crutchfield too which is surprising.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
