The 1.2tl has far less bracing then the first gen- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Well I found 1.2TLs "close" to where I found that pair of 2.3TLs so now as long as I'm willing to drive I can pick from those and the first gens.

I don't really want to drive to NC if I don't have to but I also really don't want to buy the first gens and be disappointed. The first gens are just an hour from me so the temptation to just get those for now is real.... -

Not really a bad thing....I can pull those out and put them in my 1Cs and get a set of 8 198s for them. -

Curious, is the third down the quietest tweeter? The previous owner may have had a set of the 194's and just used them. -

So my temptation to buy those 1st gens is winning, what should I check over and realistically offer?
These won't be my end goal, but I just can't help myself lol! -

That is too bad ! The pin/blade models open you up to more freedom for different amps. I drove 16hrs to buy my 2.3tl's. I do not regret it in the least. You may ask Trey but in my experience the blade/blade models were more expensive to recap because of the huge caps they had to use in the XO. -

Can’t go wrong with the blade blade sda srs, hell of a speaker. Especially when you get into modding them up.
Can always go with the tl’s at a later date if you feel something’s missing.
After modding mine I feel no need to go any further.
I am very happy with what they do.
Go for it. -

Oh I'm still getting 1.2TLs! I just want these too since the 1.2s will be a project that will take a little time to complete. These I can throw tweeters in and listen now

Pit, I’ll see your 16 hrs and raise you to 53.
Drove straight thru from wy to Maryland and back for my gen 3 sda srs.
With a detour thru Buffalo ny…. -
I like to drive 😬

I drove 48 hours straight to pick up my 2.3TLs in a rusted-out 1953 GMC truck with no air conditioning in the middle of summer.
When I finally got home, I realized that I left the interconnect cable at the previous owner's house and had to make the whole trip again.
When I finally got them hooked up, I realized that all 16 drivers were seized, 2 tweeters were missing from each cabinet, and all of the capacitors were leaking.
After rebuilding the crossovers, and replacing all of the drivers and tweeters, I finally got them hooked up again. I cranked up the volume and both cabinets exploded.
All I remember after that is some guy on an internet forum posting something about me not using a common-ground amp. -
^ holy flippin doodle good buddy….
Don’t mean to chuckle on your misfortune but damn, that’s funny. -

Plus, you’ll have experience and the tl’s will be ****-on-a-ritz when you go to mod 👍

In 2011 I drove 2 states away to get my modded 1.2tls which had been up for sale for a while. The seller was also a member here and that trip was quite the adventure. It also was my best move ever in this hobby as nothing so far has come close to pushing them out of their spot.
Pour yourself a large cup of patience and take the knowledgeable member's advice here. Wait for the good ones. -

Borrowed the unused HT amp from my dad, should be good enough for now.
I'm eying a set of Classe Deltas my local store wants to cut me a deal on, they want $17k for the pair but I need to listen to them more before deciding....my dad is saying to just go with Mac but he is beyond biased lol!
EDIT: just checked the bag he sent with the amp and it looks like he included some nice RCA cables too!

Wow. Damn does a good amp make a difference, I've never heard my speakers before this it seems lol!
