I have an old Polk Audio Surround Bar 360. I hooked the speaker to the receiver I use an optical cab

I have a polk audio surround bar 360. I hooked the soundbar to the receiver the sub out to the subwoofer. Nothing happens. I then hooked up an optical cable between the tv and the receiver. I get a picture but no sound thru the soundbar. Any ideas on how to connect this thing. I have a streaming service that plays fine, but no sound from the soundbar only sound comes from the tv speakers. Help!

Go into the TV program menu, turn off the TV speakers, turn on external speakers or whatever it might be labeled.

Thank you for replying. I can do this through my tv menus, right. Also, do i have to connect the optical cable to the Polk receiver. Can I just hook the speaker to the tv and forget the using the receiver? Thank you,m

    Yes, the TV menu.

I'm not overly familiar with that item, but I believe it came with its own amp/DVD player, which you would use to power the bar.
