Hello, I am interested in upgrading my crossovers for both sets of tower speakers. I was going to purchase from westmassguy on here at dhsspeaker but I can't seem to get in touch with him. With that said, I found a guy on ebay, can you guys take a quick look and tell me what you think?

Unfortunately Dave passed away last month, may he rest in peace.
Regarding that eBay seller you linked, I would stay far away. Amateur hour at best and not worth the expenditure, imo.
Strongly suggest you contact Trey at VR3Mods instead: https://www.vr3mods.net -
@VR3 's a hack. He can't even fit crossovers inside the speakers.I disabled signatures.

Go big or go home!

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. My wife passed last month also, so I’m deep in grief and my heart gout to his family and friends.
Thank you for letting me know. Also, why is there controversy over VR3? What does go big or go home mean exactly in this context?
-
I'm terribly sorry to hear about you losing your wife. May she rest in peace and may you find comfort surrounded by family and friends during this difficult time.
No controversy over VR3, we were just joking around. If you go sky's the limit with crossover builds, many times the physical size of the parts necessitate going with an external design that can no longer fit inside the speaker cabinet.
Of course that's the exception, not the norm. A very nice upgraded crossover can usually always fit inside the cabinet as well. But with more room gives you more flexibility, etc.
But yeah we were just having some fun. VR3/Trey does exceptional work. -
Yeah, [blank] is a hack is a forum joke that comes up from time to time that almost always means the exact opposite. Unless you're talking about @lightman1. Then it's valid 100% of the time on every topic except for bushes. And Tuesdays. It's not valid on Tuesdays.I disabled signatures.

Thank you, I'm working on a small budget of $100-200, I contacted Trey but I haven't heard from him yet. If he is more expensive, are there other options for me to consider besides Trey?
-
Thanks everyone, I responded just now, just have been slammed the past few weeks.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

If that is a “per pair” budget, I’d recommend picking one and doing it first and then following-up with the other pair when funds allow later.
I’ve evidently deleted the email with my receipt from Sonic Craft from when I got the parts for my 15s last year 🤬, but I remember just the components being north of $200. That did include new binding posts, too, but even if you don’t do those, you’ll have Trey’s or someone else’s labor cost to add.
I’ll just say, follow the advice you get here on the parts to use and also who to trust to do it if you can’t do it yourself. You will be greatly rewarded. I’ve spent a fair chunk of change upgrading my system around my one-owner 15s after the crossovers were rebuilt and some of the other commonly done mods were completed and they have hung right in there.

Thanks, that's per pair. I'm okay with a total of around $400-500 for this project.

made some decent progress on these

New type of cap in your arsenal?
I'm not familiar with those. -

Yes, I am using them in budget builds as they are built nice and sound good and I can meet price points.
IE: A pair of those crossovers I can build around $275 to $300 a pair shipped - caps/resistors/inductors/internal wiring/binding post/point to point/laser substrates etc- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I'm so excited for these, they look great Trey! Thank you everyone for your recommendation. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a nice mid-level 2ch amp for the RTA-15tl?
-
Parasound hca 750 hca1000 can be had at a great price and sound excellent- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Thanks, I'm thinking new though on the amp.
-
Budget? What preamp will you be using with it?

How do the Madisound caps compare to the ClarityCap PX, CSA or SoniCap?Stan
Main 2ch:
Polk LSi15 (DB840 upgrade), Parasound: P/LD-1100, HCA-1000A; Denon: DVD-2910, DRM-800A; Benchmark DAC1, Monster HTS3600-MKII, Grado SR-225i; Technics SL-J2, Parasound PPH-100.
HT:
Marantz SR7010, Polk: RTA11TL (RDO198-1, XO and Damping Upgrades), S4, CS250, PSW110 , Marantz UD5005, Pioneer PL-530, Panasonic TC-P42S60
Other stuff:
Denon: DRA-835R, AVR-888, DCD-660, DRM-700A, DRR-780; Polk: S8, Monitor 5A, 5B, TSi100, RM7, PSW10 (DXi104 upgrade); Pioneer: CT-6R; Onkyo CP-1046F; Ortofon OM5E, Marantz: PM5004, CD5004, CDR-615; Parasound C/PT-600, HCA-800ii, Sony CDP-650ESD, Technics SA 5070, B&W DM601 -
They remind me more of the bennic/dayton sound. Perhaps a slight edge to it which is normal for something in this range. Still better then solen.
The build quality is very nice.
The px line is fantastic, will be a smoother presentation while having greater detail retrieval and that only increases as you move up the line but we are talking different price/performance levels
