Speaker Volume Control Question??

I would like to know the easiest way to control the volume of outdoor speakers (1 pair) independently of the inside speakers. I currently have a volume control outside - however when turned to it's maximum volume it's only as loud as the master volume on the receiver - so currently I can turn it lower than the master - but not higher - there lies the problem! And I need to keep the inside speakers on the master volume to be able to adjust the volume via remote while watching TV etc. Please help. Thank you.

    You will need...

a receiver outside and it's own source.

There is no way (that I know of) - that you can go higher than what you already have.

NOW -- you could.....run a receiver outside and split the outputs on whatever source you are using and then you can turn it up as loud as you want.

You might consider what I did. I traded for a used Yamaha receiver for my patio. I keep a bath towel and dustcover on it to minmize condensation, removing it when in use. Its been out there for 2 winters now, with no ill effects....yet.

You would need a receiver with seperate zone capability. It would help if that 2nd zone had it's own IR port so you would be able to put in a remote. I think Denon, NAD, B&k and Onkyo have a couple of models. I know Sunfire does, but that is pretty pricey.

Steve's suggestion is a good one. Also, you could get an amp with a variable gain on it, but you'd have to control that locally also.

you could run a main amp that has full output all the time, and have an IR controlled vol.C. in all areas. (One in each room etc). But you'd have to stop using the TV as the Vol.C. ;)

Just buy a stereo amp and run patch cables from your tape monitor on the inside amp to the outside amp.:D
