CD spinners

I’m looking at CD spinners again, and these both appear to have great but slightly different feature sets. The board circuitry is impressive to behold.

Would love to hear impressions from owners of these (Audiolab 8300cd or Marantz ND8006?) on what you like/dislike.

Personally, I wouldn't get a slot loading player. No experience with the Marantz, but it seems to be unique in that it also does network streaming.

There are a lot of great players and transports on the used market these days. I saw a Rega Apollo for about $500 recently on FB marketplace. I almost picked it up even though I don't need another CD spinner.

I've read a number of complaints about the Audiolab scratching the discs. However, I cannot say if that is a defect in the slot loader or user error. I say user error as there are folks who simply shove the disc in willy-nilly and/or yank it out with the same disregard due to their lack of patience.

One of my CD players, which is a different brand slot loader has never scratched a disc, so don't rule out all slot loader CD players.

All that said, the Marantz house sound is top notch, so of your two choices I vote the Marantz.

Audio Advisor has some really good deals on “Scratch and Dent” right now. Not sure if they have the exact models you looking at, but I know they have both Marantz and Audiolab.

I've never had a problem with my Audiolab scratching the discs. I have read of others having that problem also. Maybe they aren't careful loading the disc, who knows.

Not familiar with that Marantz but I can say my Marantz BD8002 is excellent.

My Oppo 105D has more detail than the Marantz, the Marantz has a mellower sound.
    They’re both great.
