Has anyone used Herbie Gliders on their SDA SRS?

Correction....The Townshend spring mechanisms are vastly more effective at absorbing funds than bearing or point devices.

They are definitely expensive, thats for certain. But I really like the theory behind it. I'm glad I didn't bother with putting my SRS on HAL Gliders, and I'm definitely not going to put them on points. If I can find the Townshend Podium for a reasonable price, or a copycat that gets me the same vibration absorbtion, I'm going for that approach.

Lest some LOLer get confused what I am talking about is something like this, which is one of the springs under my buddy Steve's turntable. We have done this to his Steve Deckert open baffle speakers as well, and they are abouit 5 ft. tall. I would add a bumper of some sort on the inside if I tried this on speakers with a center of mass as high up as the SDA SRS, to limit how far they can rock should a dog or cat launch themselves onto them or some other unforeseen happenstance.

Townshend has one that will easily accommodate the SDA SRS. You have an interesting approach for a low buck version, but don't worry about the CoG - if you get the base plate down low enough then you have the floor as your bump stop.

I think it wouldn't be difficult to do a resin plate, perhaps carbon fiber, that has the necessary height offset on the outriggers just like Townshend has on the Podium.

That would be a more sophisticated way to do a DIY version of the podiums for sure. My buddy Steve elected to go with the KISS method and he's been super happy with the sound he is getting.

The Townshend Podiums also have a spring compression height adjustment mechanism at all 4 spring locations which allows them to have the platform clearance to the floor be very small. That's getting pretty sophisticated for a DIY version to incorporate that.

Make 2 bracket extensions per speaker that double as outriggers. Tap the ends for spring cup adapters.

I tried the iso acoustics giaa variation of this and I couldn't take them off fast enough

Keyword being "variation". It is actually an entirely different concept with no springs. I think it is just another amplification/isolation device. Not a low resonant frequency isolation device.

They are definitely springy and I definitely didn't like the end result

I'm sure they have some stiffness/springiness along with some damping factor. What's the resonant frequency? Do they make any claims or have any lab measurements for that ? Until then I'm calling it GGEM Technology (Glorified Glittery Engine Mount).

That gets you closer. Another feature of the Townshends is that there is an enclosed air space created by the rubber boot (thin walled rubber tubing) around the spring and end caps, that is vented by an ****. That air escaping through the **** provides some damping. My friend Steve's implementation has absolutely no damping. Damping lessens the amount of isolation/increases transmissibility at higher frequencies but it will lessen transmissibility in the amplification zone of very low frequencies.

PS: I forgot that Vanilla protects us from that word ori fice.

I use these on my ELX Ribbons ….
Works great , sounds great , doesn’t scratch the hardwoods and didn’t break the bank .
