Did some trading with the Klausinator at Odyssey Audio and the Symphonic Line RG3 came in today.

Got ‘er hooked up and scared myself - it’s dead quiet! I had the volume up a bit and hit the go button in Roon - wow!

Selling off the Rogue 99 (too late @msg ). Excellent pre but I don’t need two of em at this level.

Don’t ask me to explain the guts.

Comes with a moose external power supply. 70,000 mf caps in there.

I preferred the Tempest over Candela but Klaus didn’t want to build a Tempest and appears to have used gear for sale so I opted for the RG3.

She’s nice!!

Those are cassette tapes. Since I only listen to 3 songs I had them build a cassette player into this. It auto rewinds so I never have to touch the remote,
I had the option of an 8 track player but after reviewing it found the track change to be a bit annoying.
The vinyl option didn’t fit in this chassis and would have required the auto changer as AC/DC “Best Polka’s known to Mankind” has two of the tracks I listen to and the other is the “Theme from Romper Room” by Pink Floyd.

Life is tough and decisions had to be made.

Those ain't op-amps. Those are FETs of some type. AKA a transistor for old school low level amplification/buffering/impedance matching. Looks like a matched pair for each channel.

Sounds like a common 2SA968/2SC2238 pairing. (originally a Toshiba part number, which is what the big T is for)

Yeah, you're correct I couldn't come up with the correct word last night. It had been a long day in the outside heat....

I really enjoyed my time with my symphonic line CD player. It was extremely quiet, low noise. Nice snag!
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
