Car Wraps

My girlfriend recently purchased a new car for her business and since new cars are only available in basic black, white, gray, blue, or red these days, she decided to get it wrapped and include her company logo and information. The car looks great at first glance, but the more I look, the more I see significant mistakes in the workmanship. We were so excited, at first, when we saw the finished product that we didn't notice all of the bubbles, trapped dirt, sloppy cuts, untucked edges, and recently I noticed that they sliced through the weather strip between the front and rear doors. The more I look, the more frustrated I get.

Now, and this is our fault for not doing the research:
1. We learned that in NJ, if you advertise your company on a vehicle, it has to be registered as a commercial vehicle.
2. Her HOA will not let her park the car on the street, so it has to be in her garage when she's home.
3. She can't take her car to the car wash.

Just curious if anyone else has had this kind of experience with car wraps.

That sucks dude. I have a friend who owned a sign company and they began doing vehicle wraps years ago. He's still in the business, but now mostly runs the installation teams.

He was meticulous in his installs. He would never settle for a job like that and his work would never never have gone out with any of the flaws you mention. I've seen him work installs. Seemed to take planning, care and attention to detail the whole way.

Like anything else, workmanship is a reflection of the person's work ethic, if not simply lack of ability.

What's this about the car wash?

We were told that the car wash will cause the edges of the wrap to lift and peel, so the car has to be hand washed.

Did you take it back to the place that did the work and demand that they fix the numerous issues, as well as replace the OEM parts that they damaged?

My girlfriend is scheduling that today. The issue is that they need the car for multiple days, so we need to schedule a rental car and arrange for pickup and drop off, too. The company that did the work on her car is 40 minutes from her house, so it is an all morning or all afternoon event and we both need to schedule time off from out jobs to do this. What a PITA.

Absolutely it's a pain in the **** and deeply frustrating that this is what passes as acceptable service in this country. They better be covering the cost of the rental car as well. What a joke.

    Registered as commercial?
That's not normally the case in most states.

Sorry to hear about the mistakes, and the implied headaches, but that wrap looks absolutely awesome in your pic. 🤩

    What a great idea! 😍

The idea to advertise her business on her car was a sort of middle finger to the township. They wouldn't let her have a sign in front of the business even though neighboring businesses have signs. Now she parks this out front when she's at work. Personally, I think this is better anyway. It's less likely to get vandalized, and a lot more people see it since she uses the car for grocery shopping, etc. Besides, we discovered that it is a lot easier to find her car in a crowded parking lot now!
