Hi everyone. I live in mauritius and currently planning to buy a pair of polk atrium 8 speakers to place near the pool area in my backyard. I have no clue which amplifier to go for. Do i really need a very good one or just one that will give enough power to the speakers? I can only buy in UK and since i cannot really find any TIC GS3 or Klipsch rock speakers, am going for the polk atrium but would like to keep costs at a minimum for the amplifier. Lastly, can i connect an alexa echo dot 5th gen to the amp through the 3.5mm port?

Any recommendations on which one to go for? What's the difference between a receiver and the amp? -

A receiver is a pre amp, power amplifier and tuner all in one box. An amplifier is just that, a power amplifier. It needs a separate pre amp to control such things as the volume and source selection/inputs.
I know nothing about that item in your link, but it looks like a real POS. Maybe look at something like a Yamaha R-S202.Political Correctness'.........defined
