R700 Reverse Phase, sometimes?

After running Marantz room correction it initially showed that both speakers were out of phase. I spoke to support and was told because of a 2nd order filter that it was normal and to connect them normally. The 2nd time I ran room correction, it only showed 1 speaker was out of phase. 3rd time and again both are out of phase. For whatever reason the sound is thin, and there really is no bass output unless I use a sub. You would think that the polarity issue would be consistent? I am running a Marantz Sr7009 preouts to an Outlaw amp 180wpc at 4ohms, so I don't think power is an issue? I have tried changing the speakers to large in settings, tried LFE/Main Xover is set to 60HZ, tried turning Audyssey off and playing with the eq settings. In addition if I flip the polarity on the speakers there doesn't seem to be a noticeable sound difference. Any ideas?

First, have you had any other speakers in this system work properly? as in, played with bass presence?

Is your listening seat in a bass null? You can determine this by walking around your space with the existing calibration to see if you detect bass presence elsewhere.

If the system worked properly previously with other speakers, it might be wise to note any custom settings and factory reset your AVR, and start from scratch.

If you're sitting in a bass null, and, consequently, calibrating from there, it's possible your AVR doesn't know what to do with it, which could explain the different calibration results you're experiencing. I have a similar situation, and have found that a properly placed sub is the only way to maintain consistent sound.

It's best to hit ignore on all of the out of phase results during auto setup and move on to the next speaker. Results have been fairly random with Audyssey processors for me too with a variety of speakers. I figure some of the results are driven by room interactions as well as what the speakers are doing.

Tech support was giving the correct info in this case.

On occasion I have double checked the speaker and interconnect cables just to be sure they are connected properly.
