Marantz 2245 Won't Speak

More tales from the bench. Very nice condition Marantz 2245 lights up but no output reported.

    Check the OMRON relay first?

    Check the tape monitor buttons. I've come across Marantz that had issues not getting contact & stuck not getting signal to switch over. Hope you find issue. Nice units

    The relay does click and stay on. I checked the main caps first with a capacitor wizard, then powered it on. I'm getting 35v at the caps so good there.

    I tried FM first and could hear a little static out of speakers. I cycled the antenna attenuator switch at rear from in to out and FM worked. That was the only switch that had not seen someone's application of Deoxit. After cleaning, FM plays with switch at in or out position.

    I tried phono next and that worked. I had wondered about the tape monitor switch. The owner knows his way around a Marantz and did cycle the switch although it could have stuck internally. Maybe the 500-mile drive fixed it? :)

    I'll test tape and aux input next. I'll also check power wires for poor solder joints. Unlike the Scott 340A and Scott 399 tube receivers I repaired, you can find lots of info on the 2245!
