Hey there. I posted this over at the AVS forum and figured I'd post here too...

What I'm thinking about is buying the Denon 3805 and using 4 of my speakers from the RM6600 set. I'd mount the two sides on the ceiling pointed diagonally down toward the sweet spot and do the same with the two rears. Then I could purchase two of the LSi7's for the front right and left, put them on stands and get the LSiC center and put it in the Salamander cabinet just under my soon to get Sony XBR 60in. lcd rptv. I really only have a rudimentary knowledge of electronics and I'm not sure if this setup will work. Not sure about the whole ohm thing. It's a small room 260 sqft +- and I don't think I'm going to need bigger speakers than that. Am I wrong?

Hi Randy, welcome to Club Polk. I saw your post at AVS as well. So are you leaning more towards the RTi series now rather than the LSi's? The LSi's would underperform on the 3805, but if you were to add an amp later on, it would be passable for now. If you go RTi, as discussed at AVS, I would still use the CSi5 for a center instead of the CSi3.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Just now I think I may have found a setup. Use two RTi4's (FL&FR), CSi3 center and 4 of my RM6600 satellites (RR RL SR SL) to get 7.1. Polk suggests the RTi4 surrounds when you use the RTi6 fronts. That's a 2" speaker disparity. Using the RTi4/RM6600 setup would be approx. 2 " disparity as well. Still don't know about the sub. I might at least try my 8" sub I got free when I bought my RM6600 set 3 years ago. See how that works out before getting a 10" HSU, SVS or Velodyne. I know this is a small setup but it would be bigger and better than my Sony STRDB940 (110W) RM6600 5.1 setup and it'll be in a 260 sqft room. I have two small kids (2 yrs&2mos.) and I'm not going to be blasting the system much, but I do want good sound. They'll be watching alot of stuff like Shrek, Nemo during the day and then at night something like Lord of the Rings and PS2 GT4, Madden, SOCOM etc. at night. That's alot of speakers for such a small room.:)

Sounds like a plan then. Don't forget to report back when you get it set up!

I'm using the LSi7's with H/K AVR7200 (around $800 + shipping from Onecall.com) and if you listen to music, that is a much better setup than RTi's. Just my two cents.
