NW 6510 Old and tiring question I know.

I finally got around yesterday to replacing the internal wiring. I had already upgraded the Crossovers about 7 years ago. Yesterday I I noticed I had ordered the wrong drivers at the time and had installed mx6511's in place of the 10's. I had one of the 6510's go out in my 2.3's. I had ordered replacements from Polk at the same time as the crossover work was done replacing all 4 so as to have them sound the same.
The one that died was distorting, so it wasn't magnet shift, but a damaged voice coil most likely.
I didn't notice a change with the SDA Effect as the over sound of the speaker had changed because the Crossover upgrade as well. To be honest I was quite happy with the improvement from the Crossovers, so I didn't even give the SDA drivers a second thought.
To those that may ask. I have never glued the magnets to the frames. I never really had need to be concerned. I've only moved homes 4 times since I bought them new back in late 89 and they are moved only by me.
Now that I'm aware of the wrong Drivers, I would like to replace them with the correct Drivers, but the 6510's replacements from Polk aren't available anymore. I use Speaker exchange to repair or replace the Drivers from our JBL's at the Clubs as part of work, and they're recommending the 6028. There are subtle differences, and therefore don't trust ordering those.
I'd appreciate any help as to what to in the Year 2024 for replacements.

Do you have 2.3 or 2.3tl's -
Old 6510's are prone to coil rub also. I just repaired another one recently. The coil was good, just rubbing on the base plate. Be wary of the 'bay.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

They are 2.3's. How did you fix the Coil hitting the magnet?

You have to remove the magnet/pole-piece and dremel out the baseplate I.D.a few thousandths to permanently fix issue. The suspension sag or galvanic corrosion of the base plate ID is the culprit of VC rub in 6510's and 6511's.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.
