Guys and Gals,

Troy sent me the following email,

"Uncle Sam is pulling the plug on the forum so I can't get on it.....a$$holes."

It's not just the forum they are blocking out, but places like Amazon.com. Sounds pretty stupid to me, so if anybody out there has the ear of someone that could change this, please speak to them.

He has asked that anybody needing to contact him about the Oct. Polkfest or anything else, send him a email at troy.dion@dhafra.af.mil

I think it would be nice if we would send Troy updates from the forum or just a email to say Hi. I'm sure he would appeciate it.

if i'm reading right, most of us do have the ear of someone that can do something. congress critters were born to thrash around about stuff like this.

first it would be important to get all of details about what was happening before the change, what exactly the change is and for what reason, who made the change and if possible the units (read constituents) involved and anything else to pin down exactly what is going on.

    the more detail the better.

There's nothing that can be done. It's the system administrators policy to block ALL forums on Government PC's. I know, I work for the Department of Defense. For some strange reason, I can still get on the Polk Forum at work---but its about the only one that isn't blocked yet where I am....

It's a serious security concern with forums and being deployed. Sometimes soldiers slip-up and say things they shouldn't on forums, and consequently alot of slip-ups can help the enemy piece together intelligence such as locations, troop strength, general morale, etc...

The incovenience is well worht the potential lives saved.

Get an address and we can send the guy "care packages." I'm a Desert Storm vet, and I know it means alot to get a package. Throw stereo mags in there, other magazines of interest, cookies, toothpaste, catalogs..anything worthwhile.

yeah, as i was writing i was thinking back decades, to using secret codes when calling off base to tell someone i'd be gone for a while.

and, as careful as i was trying not to,.. it's been a ~long~ time since i've had the urge to go running off to freerepublic and the congressional directory like a crazed pack of slathering democrats.

    Troy!

I tripped and hurt myself on your property recently. I'd hate to start legal proceedings and all but..........

Just wanted to not "stab you in the back" with that.

    ha HA!

I'm BACK in bidness for the moment.

Apparently they installed a blocker that blocked all shopping sites. Well, I guess the Wing King or someone went to get on Amazon.com or something today and was denied so the block has been lifted. They are considering some sort of limit on these sites, like 30 mins a day or some such. Who knows.

Anyway, I'm back up for the time being.

    Oh, snail mail:

    TSgt Troy Dion
    380 ELRS / ATOC
    APO AE 09853

Thanks for the support guys and yes, feel free to drop me an email, love to hear from you guys.

    George,

Light bill is due on the 1st. Don't forget.

    Thanks.

You know the Gubment...policies take forever to implement, and then do so in no particular order or fashion. The guy sitting right next to me can't get to Ebay, but I can.....
