I would like to know others thoughts on mounting these. Ivan and I has talked about this a little, but I’m interested in what others have to say, and how you have mounted them.
Yes the old style is mounted directly behind the boards, and honestly that’s kind of what I would like to do with these. I will post pics below.
Is the thought of mounting them as far away from the board as you can correct?
Below is what I would like to do, I would like to make something (a little bigger of course) like the little round delrin piece you see, that piece is like the ones I used in my monitor 7’s, but you get the idea..

You can see in the picture how I mounted the one in my monitor 7’s

I should note, on my 1.2tl’s I had the Solen inductors, and they are heavy and massive compared to the C-Coils, and for that reason I mounted them to the floor of the speaker.
-
these need to be minimum 1 ft from the other inductors - extremely large field on the C Coil- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
-
What is all this talk about using stolen inductors? Stealing inductors is immoral!
Oh SOLEN inductors.

Good thing I'm done reproducing..... -

I disabled signatures. -

Keep it well clear of any magnetic metal as well. That laminated steel core loves to interact with it.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Yeah I get that, and as I told Ivan, it makes sense, and I know that is what I will do.
I really was just showing what I would like to do, keeping it together, but not a big deal with the real estate inside the 2.3TL’s.
This was just more about stirring up the conversation of what others have done and why.
But I also look at how close some of these builds get, like the CRS+’s, Sean’s build was very tight, even with most of the crossover on the outside..
Also the 3.1TL builds, depending on what is done, same thing..

nice!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

is that 3/4" delrin? $$$$$$- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

It was a 2ft stick of 3.750 Round Bar of Delrin $158.00
And thanks!! -
Price increases in delrin since a few years ago is wild- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

In case you've not noticed EVERYTHING has wildly went up. 😁 -
Indeed- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

This is one upgrade I haven't tried yet. Still using stock large coil, but have tried the Erse Super Q and that seemed to improve the bass response a little IIRC.

I'm switching out my Erse super Q's for the C-coil. That voice never quieted in my head that I was missing that last bit. -

I think the C-Coil will outperform the Erse. I just wonder if it will outperform the Solen. -
The c coil has dramatically lower dcr then the solen, it's no contest.
The c coil is the definition of the perfect sda inductor.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

That’s what I’m hoping for, I still have my solen’s so I could A/B them if I so choose to, but I’m hoping to just be happy with what I do, and enjoy them.. -
Big Larry which one do you have? The Jantzan is DCR: 0.16R
https://solen.ca/en/products?query=16 mh inductor -
For comparison the c coils are around .08 dcr... Correction, the one I used on Sean's was .1dcr- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
-
The link shows the solen is .5 dcr for the 10 awg 16mh- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

It was like $400.00 for the pair back in the day..
-
Those are stupid expensive now. Over $200 each. Crazy!
I think going from .5 to .1 should be noticable.
I know it will be for the Erse laminated Super Q -

I think so as well. -
Going from the North Creek’s to the Solens were noticeable back when I swapped them out, I don’t remember what the DCR was on the North Creek’s, that was a long time ago.
Ray probably remembers, I’m sure it was in one of his threads, he did all the leg work, I just followed like a little puppy wanting a new owner.
Ray should have received a commission check from these places for the money he got us to spend. 🤣 -
Found it.
