Polk CS350 LS Muffle Issue

Hello, This is my first post here. Hello to all you Polkers! I have a very old set of Polk LS70s and have the CS350 for the center. I have been having an issue with my center sounding very muffled and I think I may have found the problem. Once I take the grill off and slightly push in the drivers, I can hear and feel some resistance which sounds like dirt in a couple of them as one of them moves very freely with no problems. I think I may have at least moved some of it looser in which there was some improvement at times but its starts muffling again after a while as I'm sure the vibrations have moved some the dust back further in it would seem. These are very old and I'm very sure that dust has settled in to them over time probably between the gap of the voice coils. Is there any good way to get dust out of that area or what would be a nice equivalent for the old **** CS350 without going any lower in what quality this produces? The LS70s sound very nice paired with the dual PSW10s I have for the time being before I may eventually upgrade those as well. I see 4 screws around each speaker but the rubber around it seems to be sealed and I'm not sure I can take them out without breaking the seal to see if there is any way to clean them. What would be the best option for me? This looks like a very nice center channel and would love to preserve it if I can. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have one or more blown drivers. What sounds/feels like dirt is actually the wires of the voice coils rubbing against the magnet structure. I haven’t looked in a while, but the 4” drivers used to be fairly gettable, and replacement isn’t too difficult.

Ok so its the wiring making the noise, thanks for letting me know. I think its just time to get a new center channel and work on replacing my front end. My rears aren't really being used at the moment as the room doesn't really work for it. I'll probably stick with Polk.
