For what this stuff cost now, you would think their quality would at least stay the same..
Sad days!!

Should call it Grayhole0

That doesn't even look like blackhole 5. Like a complete redesign

Looks like they have eliminated the firm top skin and made the solid layer towards the bottom slightly thinner.

    Very disappointing!!!

I think for what Blackhole cost these days with the lack of quality it was, I would use that sonic barrier.

So, six 12x12 inch pieces for $330.00.

If you're thinking about this, forget that noise about the cutting steps and find a friend with a band saw. That is how I cut my blackhole 5.

Yeah, I don’t know, if I knew about the BH5 before I ordered it I might have jumped on it, and gave it a shot, at least it looks like it’s on the same level as what BH5 was in quality.
I will be thinking about it though.

Has anyone opened up their box after a few years with bh5 installed? Hopefully the adhesive holds the strips securely?

It ain't going anywhere, when I down modded my 1.2tl's to sell them, I did look at that, I even tried putting my finger under it to see how it was holding up, that adhesive is some tough stuff..

I don't think it is comparable to BH5 because it doesn't have the panel resonance layer. It is like a BH4 (if you will). No-Rez is different from BH5 in that it doesn't have the floating vinyl layer with a small layer of closed cell foam underneath, but it does have the panel resonance control elastomeric layer. Closed cell foam is better for preventing sound transmission but open cell is better for sound absorption, which is pretty much what we are dealing with in loudspeakers. No-rez doesn't purport to be a product that is designed for car doors.

    Nobody is talking about No-Rez..

Sorry if I wasn't clear. In the first two sentences I was referring to the ResoNix Guardian product. I brought up the No-Rez again because I think it should be considered as a better product for loudspeaker interiors.

Table saw is great but stick with your initial cut. If you're a perfectionist and your first cut was slightly too big, NEVER try to shave a 1/16" off of this stuff using a table saw and rip fence. Ask me how I know. Hint, it didn't end well! Gruesome pics available upon request...
