Mark Levinson ML 9

Greetings and Happy Saturday Polkies,
I have a bid in on one of these and curious if anyone has any experience with it…I had never owned one of his pieces. I found that it is 100 wpc but unsure what the current rating is. Right now my bid is pretty reasonable but wondering if y’all have any experience w this one…and if it’s really worth pursuing in terms of bid price.

Hello and good morning to you. Being a vintage amp, you may want to factor in getting it recapped/refreshed. @VR3 just did that with his amp and he was able to source a shop that has actual ex-ML employees that are intimately familiar with their gear. I believe the shop is down in TX, if memory serves.

As far as the current goes, it apparently does double down (from what I have read) and seems to be a very worthwhile and capable map. It is a high current amp, BTW.

Hey Kev ! You might remember I purchased the 431 a while back for my 2 channel (bedroom) rig and it’s been a real treat Kinda heavy but it’s not being moved so no big deal! Hope if you end up getting it you have as good luck with it as I have with mine !

Good feedback thanks guys. I had a bid on a Parasound A21 but the seller puked out. I guess my price "cap" on the ML would be short of a new Odyssey Status if that makes any sense....discounting for the age of the ML of course.

    Hmmm. From Mark Levinson:

    "Selectable damping Factor
Loudspeakers, like all electrical devices, are not perfect. We have determined that certain loudspeaker characteristics can be effected by varying the damping factor of the amplifier. For the reason the ML-9 is equipped with selectable damping capability."
