    TBT, I am not a big fan of Cary Audio reliablity. That said, their products (especially the pre's like this one) sound fantastic.

    Or at least they can.

    I have had a couple of the Cary products that have left me with a bad impression. I know they have a following, so I will not step on any toes here but I do have to be honest with my impressions.

    The only thing that I have ever read being a big issue for them is their CD players, I have never owned one so I wouldn’t know first hand.

    My biggest issue with Cary is being able to actually talk to someone, you can’t, it’s all through email. ModWright, Wyred4Sound, even Emotiva has blown Cary away when you just want customer service. I know there are others, and I can’t speak for what Emotiva does today, but back when they were just getting rolling they were on it, love em or hate em they did work hard to get their name out there..

    With that said, My Cary gear is two years old now, and not one issue or complaint with it.. fingers crossed..

    That pre was definitely on my short list many times, and at $4k hellava deal. I will respond about Larry's comment on Modwright....They have great customer service, even just for general Q/A....love their gear

    Some of you may remember I had a SLP-05 some years ago. I needed some tech help during that time and had great service. At that time just called and they got me in touch with the correct individuals. But that was like 2017 so who knows at this point.

    And as some have said Modwright is also a great customer service outfit. I recently got the PH 150. Bought it used but had questions and Dan provided me answers to all my questions. Even related to service history. These are the types of companies America was built upon.

    I'm on the Cary email list for notifications. I saw that ad just as it hit the gen pop

    I've got one (without Ult Upgrade) and it was VERY enticing, considering the Ultimate Upgrade alone is (IIRC) $1800

    I think I would've pulled the trigger if had been a bit newer. AFAIK, that serial # is 12 yrs old

    I always have a soft spot for Cary.

    Sad to hear that they don't answer the phones anymore. I used to be able to just call them up and talk to whomever.
