LG TV Hook up

I just purchased an LG UR8000 TV when i hook it up to my Polk Audio soundbar through arc I only get a pcm signal. I am coming out of a direct tv streaming box to the tv hdmi 1 and arc is hdmi 2. If i hook the streaming box up to the sound bar thorough hdmi 1 input i get dolby and much better sound. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong and is it ok to leave it connected into the sound bar instead of tv.

    Hook your DTV box to the sound bar via co-axial cable if possible

    There are usually two audio settings (or more if you have other devices). Each device connected to the TV (DirecTV Box, Bluray player, Roku, etc) has to have its audio set to either Auto, Bitstream, Passthrough, Dolby, etc. Each device is a little different. Then the TV also has settings for what to pass through the ARC/eARC. Again, auto, passthrough, etc.
    Explore all the settings and make sure they are set optimally.
    I will also say, some TVs pass through more of the original signal than others. Mine won't pass the TrueHD/DTSHDMA. It all gets converted to Dolby Plus either by the Roku or the TV. Not sure.
    I also have one low end Roku Streambar that will only handle PCM, so for that TV, I have the TV and the Tivo set to PCM.
