How do you make a room - not humid?

In my room, with the fan on - and with all these amps and electronics - it gets very humid in there. I was wondering what type of device you would use to stop this - or atleast get rid of some of it...

Any thing out there?

hmmm, just when you think you're out,.. they ~~pull~~ you back in.

looks like your next audio upgrade is an air conditioner. excess humidity is bad for gear.

or you could just close the windows and seal everything up with duct tape, turn up the music and let your gear dry out the room and try not to create to much humidity yourself by sweating all over everything.

No link needed.......this isn't a real big purchase.....

Go to your local Wal-Mart or Drug Store and they'll have plenty to choose from......I'm estimating between $20-40 or so...

Plants, get LOTS of plants. Maybe get a flood light too, something nice and warm.

Take a typical 'spray' bottle, filled with your own urine, and spray the plants liberally, and consistantly.

If it gets too warm, spray yourself to cool off.

Pretty soon you won't even notice the humidity.

    What a novel idea!

They're not all that cheap. I just had to buy one for our basement. Cost me around $140, money much better spent on the stereo!

A small window unit would do the trick; look for one at a garage sale or ebay.

y'all really think a dehumidifier can take the humidity out of the room faster than a fan can pump it in through an open window??

What?? I also just had to buy a dehumidifier for my basement. I got the smallest (i.e. cheapest) unit from Home Depot. It is a 45 quart unit, and it ran me upwards of $180.

What kind of unit can you find for $20-40? Are you sure that you're not thinking of a humidifier??

Should have gone to Wal-Mart. I got a 45 quart for around $135-140. Seems to be doing a pretty good job...

i really don't know much about or pay much attention to dehumidfiers, and i'll admit, i don't think i've ever even heard of a window mount, but, i guess if a fan was cooling enough, and the window mount dehumidifier has a comparable fan, all things being equal, removing the humidity should even make it feel cooler in there too.

probably be a bit easier on the maf too.

there are these small devices that dry the air out of a room. i think they're called something like Dry Z Air. it's a small canister type thing. YOu open it up.. and it's got some kind of drying chemical inside it.. it takes the humidity or moisture from the air and collects it in the canister. when it's full, just replace. it. I think they cost a few bucks... change as often as needed.

    it really does work.

they use lots of juice and they expell warm air...better off with a window AC, we tried a dehum. it took the humidity out but shot in warm air..lose-lose...so we said screw it !! it's now a lil humid but cooler.

A small AC would be best. I tried a dehumidifier in a slightly warm room and it did take out the humidity but the room got way too warm.

Here is a thought, buy a humidifier and plug it in backwards. :D

Pawnshops and goodwill should have either or both AC or dehumidifier. If you open your windows be sure to close them when it rains and leave them closed if the sun pops back out right away.

We use 2 De-humidifiers in our basement, but it's really cold down there so it's not an issue. They word extremely well, but i'd be concerned about the warmth issue. People are right on about that. A/C seems like the way to go.
