Surrounds and Woofer Suggestions for Family's Living-room
Having found speakers for myself (I'm waiting for a steal-deal on an amp - so if anybody comes across something in the next two weeks or so, give me a shout - otherwise I'll shell out a little more), I thought I'd help my family choose some surrounds and a woofer for our living-room. We have Infinity Sterlings as mains, something from Infinity as a center (I remember it was approx. 300 bucks 5 years ago) and your standard Onkyo (analog SS) receiver (6+ years old). I'm making the assumption that we got this stuff on the cheap, so it might even make sense to use the sterlings as surrounds and find some nicer mains.
Any suggestions? They're happy with the quality of sound we're already getting from those sterling bookshelfs, so if that quality (or maybe a little better) can be achieved at a low price-point, all the better.
As for me, I'm staying outta there - they have the bass turned all the way up and treble all the way down - it just gives me a frickin headache.

i don't know much about sterlings, but Polks LSi bookshelves are great speakers, very good quality, though they can be a little expensive. if your looking to spend less money the RTi6 would be a good buy in my opinion. if you end up getting anything LSi i would put those as the mains, with the RTi's (considering i don't know anything about sterling) i would reccomend just switching back and forth and seeing what you prefer. You can check ou the prices on polks website, but those aren't usually exact to what their dealers sell at.

I'm familiar with the RTi's just from researching the 6's before I decided to go with some different speakers for myself - I was thinking something a bit cheaper but still a good value. Polks seem to be a bit high-end for this particular set-up.

if your looking for something cheaper than the 6's Polk is reintroducing it's monitor series, and the monitor bookshelves are a pretty good deal, as well the RTi4's are about 150 i think so that's also a good buy.
