HI GUYS!
Well I narrowed Polk down to the brand that produces the best speakers for my price range (or any for that matter). My year-long plan involves purchasing 2 front speakers, a sub, and a receiver in about a month, and for X-MAS getting 2 surround speakers and a center channel. I have basically made up my mind on which speakers i'm getting but I have a few questions. First off heres the system I had in mind:
FRONT: 2 LSi9 Bookshelf Speakers
REAR: 2 LSiFX Speakers
SUB: PSW 404 10" Subwoofer
CENTER: LSiC Center Channlel
RECEIVER: NAD T742 (Heard it drives 4 ohms good)
First id like to ask the question, what would sound better:
-2 LSi9's and a PSW 404 Sub
-2 LSi15's
or
-2 LSi9's and 2 PSW 202 Subs (If thats even possible?)
Second, is the LSi15 just an LSi9 with a built in sub?
Third, How dose the RTi12 sound when compared to the LSi15 or LSi9's with a Sub.
I dont know now people are saying the LSi7's sound better than the 9's.
Are polk subs good at all? it seems people dont like them. Which sub would you recommend????????
Help me build my system guys im really confused
Thanks for helping a noob out
Remember though I do have a budget and the LSi15's are soooo expensive

Welcome to the forum.
I think the best advice anyone can give you is to go out and listen to the speakers you're interested in, preferably on the NAD receiver.
The LSi 15 doesn't have a built in sub, it's got a 8" woofer.

I like the Polk PSW505. So, much, that I bought two and stacked them on top of each other.

I dont feel like spending $100000000000000 on amps, interconnects, preamps, etc. etc. ET-CET-ERR-AH. I think i'm just going to go with an RTi line, they got bass, they got highs, they're easily driven.I = NOOOOOOoooooo000b

This is my 2 cents.
I have recently purchased some RTi6's as fronts RTi4's as the surrounds and the CSi3 as the center and I couldnt be happier.
I did audition the Polk subwoofers however and I didnt like any of them. The PSW303 was suggested for the system I purchased but I thought it didnt have enough. So I listened to the PSW505 and again wasnt impressed.
I was then shown a B&W 10" and 12" sub and they literally blew me away. Now that is what I had thought a sub would sound like.
Your dream system however does sound sweet when looking at the other components.Fronts: Polk RTi6
Surrounds: Polk RTi4
Center: Polk CSi3
Subwoofer: Undecided
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V650Ti awaiting purchase -

i think alot of the buzz about how hard it is to drive lsi's is confusing for sure, but, in the case of lsi7's and 9's, a bit over done.
if that's the main factor driving your decision, i'd spend more time listening. do the demo with gear similar to or worse than yours and bring music you know well and have listened to hundreds of times before. maybe even bring your gear in to the store.
but hey, if you dig the rti's, no sense in waiting another minute. go get 'em and don't look back.
good luck.
