SDA 2b with blade interconnect cable

Hi all! You folks helped me restore a sweet pair of SDA 2b’s. I got these from my father in law 20 years ago. Well it turns out he had another set and he just gave them to my daughter! So here we go again! Except this time, her pair has the blade interconnect and mine didn’t.

Why is the blade interconnect important? I recall during my restoration people eagerly asked me if mine were bladed… followed by disappointment when I said they weren’t.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Early SDA2b did have a blade/blade socket that was wired like the pin/blade socket. FIRST are you sure they are not SDA2a ?

You can either pull a driver and check numbers or pull the passive and look at the XO. 1 board will be 2b, two boards will be 2a. SDA2a has both drivers as MW6510

    That makes little sense.

They either have a pin/blade cable or a blade/blade cable, so both have a blade. The pin/blade version is more desirable due to the ability to use the AI-1 or Dreadnought isolation transformer, which allows one to use non-common ground amplification.

Thank you! That’s the answer I was looking for! These are blade blade.

I haven’t been able to get into them yet but I am assuming they are 2b because my left channel serial number is 16035 while hers is 16292.

There are a few Blade/Blade 2B’s that were produced and one can still use the AI-1 or Dreadnought isolation transformer, which allows one to use non-common ground amplification.
This is why I asked if they are a single or double crossover board, the serial numbers can help as well, but opening them up will be the tell all.
