I am surprised there's been no chatter here about YT's campaign eliminate ad blockers

I think that "Music & Movies" is a good place to put this little screed -- because I think many of the great unwashed (in which category, in this context, I ruefully put myself) get video (and audio) the quick 'n' dirty way: via Youtube.
I presume there are few humans on the internet that haven't noticed the draconian tactics that YT, i.e., Google, i.e., Alphabet have recently adopted to drive users from using adblockers to view YT content sans ads.
The most interesting aspect of this, to me, is the existential struggle (Wile E. Coyote vs. Roadrunner-style) currently going on between ad blocker providers and YT/Google/Alphabet. There seem to be updates to the former every couple of hours, followed, of course, by retaliation by The Man).
There's a fascinating thread at (don't judge me! -- yeah, actually, go ahead & judge me) ASR on the topic https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/youtube-cracks-down-on-ad-blockers.49205/
There is also a deep dive by (I believe) the proprietor of https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/ on what to do about all this
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/stop-youtube-ads-once-and-for-all.49382/
So, here's the thing: Yes I am cheap. Very cheap. And yes, I know there's nothing free about "free content" on the Internet (as they say: If you don't know what the product is, you are the product!). And yes, I recognize that YT is a for-profit brand and they're entitled to make money from their users. I also realize that taking a hard-ish line on subscribers has worked for Netflix. But it still bugs me -- I guess mostly due to the rather sudden and rather decisive way YT rolled out their new world order. EDIT: Oh, and they reportedly also raised their subscription prices -- at least in the US.
I am curious to see whether anyone else here 1) has noticed and/or 2) has had their YT umm user experience impacted by this -- and 3) does anyone here care?
Maybe it is just me, and some curmudgeons at ASR.

I have noticed seeing as YouTube has been ad-free for me since 2005/2006. My adblocker has worked fine until about 3 weeks ago, at which time videos simply wouldn't play at all.
After messing around a bit, I found an extension that blocks ads on YouTube which has worked well for the last few weeks. For the last 3 or 4 days, I have seen YouTube freeze and a little "Skip Ads" button appears. Clicking that resumes the video. -
I subscribe to YouTube premium, works great for us with the daughter. Can pick exactly what she watches, zero commercials... Perfect- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I think I know what extension you're talking about. Have you tried uBlockOrigin? It's been working for me and they update it almost every 12 hours to bypass the adblocker-blockers from YouTube. -

I have been using uBlock Origin for about 8 years. That was the ad-blocker that YouTube didn't like. I had to make YouTube an exception (to stop uBlock from blocking/hanging up YouTube) and use another extension to skip the YouTube ads. -

That's strange. I'm on Firefox so I don't know if it's browser related, but even when signed in or without any other extensions it's been working fine. I'd give it another go.
The custom filters and exceptions break the official scripts, so I'd remove those, clear cache and cookies for YouTube in browser settings, and then in uBlock settings choose "purge all caches" and then "update". See if that will do the trick? -
I had to delete YT from the kid's tablet few years back when they started inserting Ciroc Vodka commercials in the kids channels.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Wouldn't put it past Google to do that. Have you SEEN some of the 'kids' content? It's repulsive. -
Yeah, YT's been peaceful on three different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Chromium) running under two different O/S (Windows and Linux Mint) lately. I wouldn't wonder, though, that Alphabet is luring us into a false sense of security before swinging the axe -- hard.

Bad timing on this comment. They swung the axe yesterday lol.
Firefox users, even without ad blockers, even if they have premium, are experiencing bad loading times before videos and Google ADMITTED to it.
I think this is the beginning of the end of big tech... they've gone and pissed off just about every person with mild tech knowledge on the plant -
I watch YT mostly late evenings on a TV through an Amazon Fire Stick. I hate the ads. Some are just a few minutes apart. I can skip many using the Fire Stick remote. I don't watch it enough at a PC to try adding an ad blocker to Chrome. I am reading this with interest.
