Polk vs Energy? Help!

I just bought the following for AU$1000 but I am having second thoughts.
Fronts: RTi6
Surround: RTi4
Center: CSi3

I have only deposited AU$100, but am wondering if I made the right choice. They sounded great, dont get me wrong.

My friend, who lives in another state was going to sell me the Energy Take 5.1 system for AU$1000 but I wanted bookshelves, so I went and bought a Polk system (after having auditioned a few brands).

I am having trouble finding an Energy retailer in Melbourne, Victoria so I really have no idea what they sound like. If I was to consider purchasing a Energy Connoisseur system consisting of the following:
fronts C-3
surround C-1
center CC-1 / CC-3
would that have been a better option? (if it was the same price)

I have no idea how much this setup would go for and just need someone confirmation to set my mind at ease.

Center: Polk CSi3
Subwoofer: Undecided

Add a sub to them Polks and you've done just fine.

You may be asking the wrong guys if you're looking for an impartial anwser though. ;)

    Thankgod!

    You see ... I am a bit of a cheap-ar$e and I needed validation.

The sub I loved was either the B&W 10" or 12" but were very very expensive so it would be going against my nature to purchase one.

    Found a sub.

A friend of a friend is selling an Energy ES-12XL for AU$500. he bought it 18 months ago for AU$1800.

Though this sub is sealed, not vented and I dont know much about it. I might post a thread and ask some people if they know anything. Because again, it is in another state and there is no way I can listen to it without buying an airline ticket.

You can always have a look at the manual. It won't tell you how it sounds but it'll give an idea of what the sub is about.

Thanks for manual. I am reading it now.

I think I may have a choice. Either the Energy ES-12XL (12" sealed) or the HSU VTF-2 MkI (10" vented). The energy costing $500 as mentioned and I believe I can get the HSU sub for $750.

Neither of which I can listen too as both are in Western Australia.

    Which do you think?

Sorry, can't help you there, I've never heard either one. I made a blind purchase on my Boston Acoustics sub myself.

Hopefully someone will chime in and help you out. :)

    Thorn,

If you go to the sub thread you'll find a ton a info on subs. http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11

I currently have a PSW650 and I like the 505, but a lot of people like the SVS line, Velo 12 or 15...

    Good luck!
