I use a Schiit DAC with my Audioengine HD3 speakers because the onboard DAC with the speakers, a version of the D1, I was told, sounds veiled and slightly congested in comparison.
Good synergy with Parasound, Musical Fidelity, and Harman Kardon.
For me, at my level of gear, enjoyable performance/cost balance.I disabled signatures.
