Signa S2 ARC issue

First time setting up the Signa S2 and couldn't get the ARC to work. The Blu-ray player is a Sony ubp-x700 with the HDMI going to a projector and the HDMI audio only going to the sound bar, but couldn't get the sound to come through. I tried a bunch of different connections, still no luck, so I had it running just off the projector to make sure I had sound, and I did. So I took my old Bose sound touch 300 and hooked it up as I did with the S2 and it worked fine on the Bose. So after doing a little research earlier, I came across something about some Dolby audio not transferring across regular arc, which the diac box does list dts-hd and Dolby Atmos, but that still doesn't explain why it worked on one and not the other. I will say that on the Bose, I do have a HDMI in and a HDMI arc, which I think I used the HDMI in, but can't remember. Sorry this is long winded, just hoped it would have been a more simple solution than the Bose was.
