If you use the "line out" jack on the sub amp to send the signal filtered of bass information for your large mains, what is the cut-off point for the bass frequencies? Here's what I want to try:
Stereo preamp to svs amp line in
line out on svs amp to stereo amp
What settings do I need to change on the svs amp to accomadate this setup? I'm just curious to see how the system would sound running my large mains minus bass information...

I think Tom V told me it was a fixed 80hz on the high pass filter.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

From what I understand the line out is for daisy chaining subs and the crossover does not affect this. I could be wrong though. You could try it and measure the frequecy response to know exactly what is happening or send Tom or Ron and e-mail.Graham

So would you "disable" the XO knob settings with the disable switch?Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

This is a quote from Ron's (SVS) post regarding SW setup in http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=198145
"
1.) Subwoofers Crossover knob is Disabled.
2.) Receivers setup menu has ALL speakers set to Small. Crossover to 80Hz if adjustable.
3.) Look to see (some do some dont) if your receiver has an option for sending LFE to Mains + Sub. You do NOT want this. LFE to Sub only.
4.) See if your receiver has a LFE Trim or anything else that might be a peak limiter. Turn it off or to its highest (lease effective) level. Turn off Midnight Mode or Compression (it will have one, they are called different things).
5.) Look at ALL the menu options of your DVD player. Your digital audio output MUST be set to BITSTREAM, not PCM. Make sure you dont have any dynamic range compression switched on in the player.
6.) Try another location for the sub. Subs are very VERY placement dependent. You could be sitting in a spot where you are getting lots and I mean LOTS of cancellation.
7.) Make sure you are using ONLY Dolby Digital as your playback mode for now. No THX Movie Mode or similar sound field processing scheme.
9.) AFTER all the above is checked (only change one thing at a time unless you find something clearly wrong) try adjusting phase in one hash mark increments. Usually phase has little effect unless you are running your mains as large, or have another subwoofer.
10.) Give the sub some time, mostly for your ears to adjust. If you didnt have a sub you are perhaps still getting used to how it should sound (if nothing is wrong with setup). And dont forget sound can change WILDLY depending on the source you are playing. Do not hesitate to vary the subwoofer level control. It should be up around ½ to 1/3 of its range, the receivers subwoofer level control should be about in its first 1/3 of ITS range. Beg, borrow or steal Avia and recalibrate (DVE is questionable and receiver test tones frequently arent much better). Finally, look over this page for something else I might have

Steve you're using you sub for two channel only, correct? if so then if you hook the sub up they way you want to in your original post, your mains will see everything from 80hz on up (gradually rolling off from 80hz and below). You'll need to ramp up the low pass crossover from where you have it now, not disable it.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

It definately is worth it. You can slowly tweak the system, listen with time and decide what setup sounds best for you. -
Well, I'm just not too keen on running my beautifully "pure" preamp signal thru a sub amp and back to my power amp.
If I get extremely bored I will try this, just to satisfy my curiousity.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
