Another work related conundrum

Does anybody have a clue about this metal, fish tape breakage… There’s 3 separate fractures in the photo and the fourth is in my hand.
I’m just disgusted with the way Shizzdell is manufactured these days are

    Throw it away. The guys at work use the fiberglass fish tapes now.

    I have one from Harbor Freight from years ago (I think; def discount tool shop) that was good for getting down walls.

    For going across ceilings I preferred the threaded sectional fiberglass rods. Gotta wear glubs using these. One time I thought I could do a quick run. I paid for that shortcut.

    Nothing beats the trained mouse, though. Put a little harness on it, and it tows a light pull string wherever you want it to go. I had a small team of them for a while, but they unionized, and I couldn't afford them anymore.

    Ivan, are you talking about fiber used in those traditional fishtapes designs?

    that's the route I'll (probably) go in bc I don't need to be electrified !!

    The neighbor just bought a metallic 120 footer for $90. I'd imaging the FG is is 50% more $

    Rusted? I've got a cheap no name 50 footer that got a bit of rust on it sitting in a damp basement. I spooled it out and stainless steel wooled it and oiled it still good. It must be 30 yrs old.

    wow. yeah, the way you were talking I thought maybe it was of newer manufacture. only thing I can think of would be if you happened to lend it out to someone who didn't know what they were doing and was bending it back and forth in the same places several times. I mean, they're friggin' steel, and not exactly thin.
