Still Looking for one or two RT3000p's

Hi,

I (still) have a RT5000 system and would like to replace the CS1000p with a RT3000p unit (behind an acoustically transparent screen.) I would buy a pair, of course. Mine are rosewood, but doesn't matter behind a screen. I've got a spare amp or two, so that's not a real problem.

I'm in the Atlanta metro area and could drive a reasonable distance if needed.

Let me know. Thanks!

Thanks VR3. This eBay ad has been up for a year or so with no takers. Besides being way overpriced, it looks like the speakers may have been wet at some point. I might be willing to take a chance at a third of the price...

Message the seller and say exactly that. You might be surprised.

When I sold cars, everyone thought their car was worth Kelly bluebook but after you show them their 4,562 dents, 2.2 million scratchez, weird odor and bald tires they quickly drop their price

I've done that kind of thing before, too. I bought a complete RT5000 setup in Charlottesville, VA several years ago. But, these would be a 10 hour drive one-way. Even a cheap air ticket and one-way rental car comes to $500, and that makes it a no-go even if the price was a couple hundred bucks. :/

Plenty of polkies in Indiana and Illinois for that to happen.
  • I recalled US Audio Mart having some rosewood RT3000p listed.

I really hope you can find one/a pair to use as a center, I'm really curious as to how it'd compare to the CS1000p. I respect the dedication!

Hi ChrisD06. Thanks for the response. I looked at US Audio Mart and did not see them.

Kicking around a complete system change because of the falling prices of used gear. Maybe a LSiM based system with three 707's for LCR, 702's for sides, or 2 pairs of 703s for 7.1. Or maybe R700's for LCR, and R200's for surrounds. I've seen a pair of LSiM 707's with a 706 go for around $1,200. Also seeing R700's go for $1,200 a pair. I buy used speakers almost exclusively, since they are expensive to ship so a local sale can be a bargain. And, I can be patient.

Unfortunately it appears the RT5000 set on USAM sold, sorry about that.

I've personally considered the idea of switching to the LSi lineup or even the RTiA lineup, but I don't think I personally can warrant the cost. The LSiMs also seem to have a few issues but I don't know if they're widespread (fragile tweeters, woofer baskets breaking) or if they're isolated. Either way it seems very difficult to find replacement parts. In your case, I think you should get the RT3000p for your center and then decide. Maybe you'll be pleased enough with it for a while longer.

The RT5000 system has some truly phenomenal sound for HT. If you wanted to look for something better, why not upgrade them internally? Dynamat, crossover rebuild, RD2516-1 tweeter, it's on my list for next summer.
