question about amp power ratings

I have a rockford mono amp that outputs 300wattsX1 @ 4 ohm load or 500wattsX1 @ 2 ohm load. My question is if I hook up 2 subs(4ohms each) to get it down to a 2ohm load what is the power going to each sub is it 500 watts to each sub or is it half (250 watts)?
