I'm going to rebuild the RM1000W subwoofer that I have and not sure I can substitute the original 6517's for 6502's (I have a stash) or just throw in some of these el-cheap-o's?

What's wrong with the 6517s? You've rebuilt some drivers that were pretty **** so I can't see why the 6517s wouldn't get the same treatment -

They had the most pristine 6502's installed, after dagoogledge, I found that they came with 6517's originally. But the 6502's were in there really didn't look like they were touched from factory, so who knows.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists. -

Oh, yeah that's fair. The MW6502 and MW6517 would be entirely incompatible for the RM1000W unless it's genuinely a different design from Polk using the MW6502 with a different cabinet design and radiator. The Fs and Vas are way out of the margin of error. -

I got the subwoofer back up and running with 6502's. Maybe Polk did intend for the 6502's to run with this SW103 passive. Controlled impactful bass and not boominess I was concerned it would have.
The ID stickers says RM3000 on the enclosure itself, which is different from what Ive seen pics of...

RM3000 was the model# for the entire Satellite/Subwoofer system. I think they also had model numbers of RM1000 and RM2000 for the Subwoofer and the Stereo Speakers respectively.

You probably already have the manual but here it is.

I can't find any info online suggesting it has MW6502 from factory in earlier versions. The schematics also don't show MW6502.
Did the drivers have RM1000 or RM3000 on them? If not, I'd be inclined to think they were replaced. -
The pics I saw on the net show "RM1000W" on the sticker to the right off the xover.
Can't find a pic of my ID sticker...
At any rate, had the sub hooked up too the B&O C30's and CX100's this weekend. Now at shop running with the modded TSi's... Really impressed...

It would be interesting to see if adding the foam inside the basket to the subwoofer woofers would have no effect or very little effect since the frequencies are 100Hz and below here. Any effect would have to be due to mechanical vibration suppression since the low frequency absorption of foam of that thickness is virtually nill. Probably not worth even trying it, except for mythbuster purposes, regarding a certain claim of bass destruction 🤣George / NJ

I'll be tearing it apart again to upgrade the wiring and see what I can do to brace the baffle between drivers and PR. The MW's compartment is braced internally from factory.
The cabinet is built like a tank and has an extra laminated layer of MDF in top. Heavier than a PSW-10 I've had
