    This exact thing is why I don't even consider R2R. I was even offered a very nice, mint condition R2R a decade ago.

    I thought to myself....where were you in the 70's when the stuff you could play was "reasonable"?

    Now the tapes are so old, it is a hit or miss. Quality has degraded, prices for R2R repairs have gone up and the repairs are questionable (unless you *really* know someone qualified).

    And people think LP's and digital is a rabbit hole....LOL.

    I really wanted to go down this rabbit hole a couple of years ago but backed away after the lack of being able to find trustworthy tapes.

    The acoustic sounds tapes were on the scene but I never purchased any.

    But I did preorder the elephant UHQR vinyl. Be interesting to hear as this will be the first time Chad from acoustic sounds ventures into a newer generation of music.
